Where are all the homers who wanted us to resign him now?

Let’s resign Mateen Cleaves for a 10 day contract so he can retire, lol.

Now that CWebb’s out, we gotta concentrate on getting Juwan Howard!
Seriously, though, I was one of those “homers.” Clearly, the Rattler is the better choice!

SportsNation poll on ESPN . . .
Is Chris a hofer . . . 20,560 votes in at this time . . . 65 percent “NO,” 35 percent “YES.”
Oddities . . . apparently, from the SN map, the state of Montana feels he’s a hofer to the tune of 54 percent. The entire world disagrees with Montana . . . and Michigan. Michigan, ironically, as with most ‘hometown’ states, spikes toward the local, but in Chris’s case, he got 50/50.
Maybe sports fans are collectively brighter than I thought.

So is Golden State going to retire his jersey or what?
I kid, I kid. I was in the pro-Webber camp and I now realize the error of my ways. I’m going to burn Joe Dumars’ image into my wrists by picking up a boiling hot iron cauldron by my forearms for penance.

My first child will be named Joe D… boy OR girl.

Rob G.: It sounds like “Jody” if you say it quickly, so I think it works out for boy or girl. Of course I agree that The Rattler was a much better choice (even versus Webber of last year), but isn’t it possible the Kander Man could’ve (marginally, like last year) revitalized Webber’s knees if he had stayed in Motown? I mean I’m pretty sure that if Arnie Kander was a coach on the NBC show “The Biggest Loser”, they’d all be winners (or “the biggest loser” or whatever).

Arnie Kander is like Chuck Norris. All those hyperbolic statements that apply to Norris can be equally applied to Kander and his voodoo.

“Where are all the homers who wanted us to resign him now?”
- Cause yeah, I got to examine his knee in person and a telegram from the future saying it’d be toast after 9 games. I just figured those 9 games were SOOOOOOOOOO important that he’d be worth it in the long run.
Seriously isn’t your question like asking a Fantasy Football player if he STILL thinks Deuce McAlister was a good pick 20 seconds after he blows out his knee?
I think its safe to say anyone who was asking for a Webber resigning EXPECTED Detroit to give him a full physical BEFORE giving him money/a contract…. jussayin

pg4l, you were as wrong as possible. it was obvious he was done and you couldn’t accept that. now that it’s proven you’re making excuses.
you may have expected the pistons to give him a full phsyical, but to the vast majority of the basketball public who fall into the category of “not pistonsgirl” it was obvious he was done.
go back to lambasting mike dunleavy jr. or kobe for looking silly. you’re a better judge of clothing style than basketball ability.

Nice try, honestly I laughed repeatedly while reading your reply but heres something you should probably know:
Chris Webber Played 61 Games in 2006-2007, and then 16 Playoff games. At no point in time was he “injured” during those games. His contract then expired and he DID NOT PLAY ANY MORE GAMES until he was resigned in Golden State… so basically everything you just said is complete bullshit and theres absolutely NO way you could prove that he was done because of injury, which btw is why he retired.
Honestly, you’re a fucking tool.
Thankx moron.

Also, who is this Kyle guy:
Kyle
Jan 14th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
and the debate begins again.
i agree with matt, if we can get him for a pittance to snap up 10 min. per game then sure, why not.
Why not indeed…. HAHAHAHAH

Ah, the internet – where if you type it, it lives forever. Don’t worry, Kyle, this sort of thing has happened to me, too…

while I don’t want everything I said rehashed…. no he wasnt injured with us… but he wasnt the chris webber you remember… I mean really all those jokes about not being able to slide a piece of paper underneath when he jumped were true. When he played with us last year he was a good passer and had a veteran savy. but the man had no ups and his "jump"shot had no arc. So what your saying is that Golden State didnt give him a full phsyical? Its not the same as Deuce for several reasons… first of all deuce was a starter, furthermore I don’t believe deuce had already had three surgeries on the same knee that magically “blew out”. If you dont belive me how about we listen to C-webb:
“The best player in the history of the Sacramento Kings’ franchise retired Wednesday at the age of 35. But in a soft, wistful admission, he suggested that his career ended five years earlier when he stretched for a lob pass in Dallas, came down with the ball and felt someone driving a knife into his leg.
"I remember turning to Vlade (Divac) and saying, `I’m done,’" Webber recalled. "My knees had been bothering me for a long time, and when I hit the ground that night in Dallas, I knew something was really wrong. After that . . ."
He was 30 years old, and he was never the same. Neither were the Kings. "
here is the link: http://www.timesrecordnews.com/news/2008/mar/28/ups-and-downs-chris-webber/
To all somewhat objective people C-webb wasnt the same after that first injury and it only got worse after that. The man had microfracture at 30… He was like the punch drunk fighter that everyone knows could be done with one more punch… that could have come last year with us, instead it came after a couple games with the warriors.

i admit it, after the pages and pages of debates i made a concession that if we could get him for fifty bucks to sit at the end of the bench and play scrap minutes, i’d be fine with it.
you were saying that he was still a championship potential starter. you chafed at the idea of giving him scrap minutes. you never mentioned “if he passes his physical” or anything of the like.
you were as convinced he wasn’t done as i was convinced he was. you were wrong, i wasn’t. call me what you want and claim i made you laugh really hard and make excuses, or, just accept it.
