Doc Rivers knows that even with his team just three wins away from a trip to the NBA Finals, his job approval rating among many fans generally runs along a fine line between acceptable and get him the hell out of here. I bet you could swap out "Doc Rivers" for "Flip Saunders," run the same article in the Free Press and no one would think twice.

Sure we would. We’d be thinking “Wait, we’re four wins away from a trip to the Finals.”

Save for a few hiccups (and much of the Philly series), I’ve been quite impressed with Flip’s coaching. I wouldn’t trade him for any other post-season coach, short of pop/zen.
