Embrace the "combo guard"

PrintPeople say the phrase "combo guard" like it's a dirty word, but guess what: most of the league's elite point guards are in reality combo guards. Personally, I'd prefer this stay our little secret: it's why guys like Rodney Stuckey fall out of the lottery and into the laps of teams like the Pistons.

Stephon Marbury makes that happen. Guys like him made it a dirty word. But the world of basketball is filled with observers who are idiots. Among all sports, especially on the professional level, I’ve never met the sport where a team like Golden State can be given the term “good defense” by the media. If gross errors in observation happen in the media, I guess it’s a lost cause to have anything correct among the fans.
