Will Chauncey miss the Olympics?

Chris McCosky doesn't think Chauncey Billups will make the final cuts for the Olympics. Chris Sheridan agrees, and puts Tayshaun Prince on the bubble, as well.

If Chancey is healthy he would be a better short term choice than Deron Williams but Sheridan has a good point about grooming Williams for the future. Actually, Deron and Chauncey were both better than Jason Kidd at running half-court offense during the FIBA Americas Tournament. I think the transition opportunities for Team USA will be reduced greatly when they are no longer playing Central and South America’s second stringers.

Also, Kobe’s “great defense” during the FIBA Americas was mostly a result of him aggressively overplaying vastly inferior players. After I saw some Mexican guy no one has ever heard of break Kobe’s ankles and nail a jumper I have doubts about Kobe finding as much success with his defense in the Olympics. Same with his annoying habit of ignoring his teammates, going 1 on 4, and taking some ridiculous shot at the basket. Works in the America’s Tournament, probably won’t work so well in the Olympics.
