The mystery of Rasheed’s jerseys revealed
Yesterday I mentioned a conspiracy theory bouncing around the internets that suggested the lack of new Rasheed Wallace jerseys for sale at Pistons.com and NBA.com was a sign he was about to be traded.
Fortunately, Pistons director of strategic communications (and long-time friend of DBB) Dave Wieme strategically communicated that wasn't the case. From his comment on my original post:
Hey Matt, although I got a big kick out of that response from Aaron, the truth is that Rasheed decided to go back to his #30 and we were re-stocking for the season. No reason given by ‘Sheed as to why the change, but he is going back to the number he has worn most of his career.
And no truth to the rumor that he gets any cut on merchandise sales!!

i’m sooo happy he is changing back to his old number ,because if you guys didn’t noticed. As soon as we won the championship the next year he changed his number. But i hope this brings back some luck :D

Maybe this is a sign that he wants to go back to the ways he was playing when he first arrived here. I always found it funny he abandoned the “30” for “36” and hated that Carlos Arroyo stole that jersey a couple months later.

Hey changed numbers because of his cousin or brother or something. Not like he did it out of spite after we won the championship
