Preseason schedule (finally) announced
Almost a month after releasing the regular season schedule, the Pistons revealed their preseason schedule today. Three of the eight games will be televised on FSN Detroit, and my guess/hope is that the other five games will be picked up by another local station.
October:
Sun 05 @ Miami 6:30pm
Wed 08 vs Milwaukee 7:30pm (FSN Detroit)
Fri 10 @ Washington 7:00pm
Sat 11 @ Milwaukee 8:30pm
Tue 14 vs San Antonio (Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, MI) 7:00pm (FSN Detroit)
Thu 16 vs Dallas 7:30pm
Wed 22 vs Cleveland 7:30pm
Thu 23 vs Atlanta 7:30pm (FSN Detroit)
Also, individual tickets for preseason games will go on sale Friday at 10am.

This is from Lanlois new mailbag in reference to who the starting big men will be;
“As for who starts if McDyess returns to the bench, as I suspect will happen based on Joe Dumars’ comments in the Q&A we did last month when he said it wasn’t set in stone that Wallace and McDyess would be the starters, don’t look past Amir Johnson. Michael Curry is aware that Jason Maxiell wears down when he overextends himself and I think they’re going to use Kwame Brown more situationally against other big men. Put those two things together and remember how enthusiastically Curry has spoken of Johnson, both before and after his Las Vegas Summer League showing, and it makes sense that Johnson would get a shot. But I think all three of them will be given a shot with the first unit in camp and throughout the preseason.”
When Joe D said it wouldn’t necessarily be McDyess and Sheed starting I figured it would be Maxiel to replace McDyess, but I do think Amir makes some sense. I have no data to back this up, but I always thought good things happened when Sheed and Amir played together last year…they seem to compliment each other offensively and defensively. As we all know Amir is a little foul prone, but I don’t think there will be a big difference in his minutes whether he starts or comes off the bench, so I don’t see it being a big issue.

Jim,
Amir Johnson isn’t as good as Mouhamed Sene.

Hopefully this month goes by quick.
On another note, Bill Davidson and former Piston Adrian Dantley are going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame tomorrow. Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Pat Riley, and Dick Vitale make up the rest of the class.

8 games against teams with basically light in the pants big guys with the exception of “Z” and Duncan.
I would have liked the Pistons to have scheduled some exhibition games against teams with heavier and talented front courts but that would have required games against Boston and some WC teams.
