stuckey

Just a thought.

Star-divide

I am thinking we should trade stuckey. His assist numbers are terrible and his shooting is very inconsistant. Plus, some of the turnovers he makes are really stupid. Either that or trade hamilton and move stuckey to shooting guard. He could turn out to be a great player but I don't see it happening at point guard. If we could package him for a big man like Odem in portland I would do it in a second. Of course we would have to throw in another big man probably to make it happen.

I just wondered what people think.

I agree completely

I’ve never been all that fond of Stuckey. He’s a 2, not a 1. Personally, I think we should be starting Bynum-Rip-Tayshaun-CV-Brown/Ben.

Stuckey is a decent shooting guard and probably one of the worst starting point guards in the league.

I’d rather Stuckey start for us than to trade him and a big for Oden, though. Oden’s career will be one marred with injury, I think. And Portland wouldn’t want Stuckey, either. They have the most promising 2-guard in the league in Brandon Roy and they just overpaid Andre Miller for a 3 year deal to be their starter.

If it could be done (and let’s face it, I think Joe Dumars could pull off any trade), I would like Brook Lopez from New Jersey. Maybe something like Rip and Wilcox for Lopez and Simmons? Simmons is a bad contract, but then again, so is Rip. That would give New Jersey a starting lineup of Harris-Lee-Rip-Jianlian-Wilcox/Williams. They’re really weak at the small forward (They start 6’11 Jianlian there right now from what I can tell) so having Rip there would be good for them. But, then again, they are in the running for Rip now that they have the Russian as their owner and are for sure moving to Brooklyn. So Rip really wouldn’t fit into that situation there.

I Disagree 100%

Hes only played the point for what 40 games?…….People said the same thing about Billups for the forst 6 years of his career……No way we trade him…..Last year he struggles when iverson started becasue Iverson is like TO……He was so worried about getting him the ball that he struggled…..he will be fine……You can never get rid of a guy thats only been playing the point for less then half a season…..Just wait til the season starts and the regulars are playing……Future All Star Baby….DONT TRADE HIM

Sorry bout my typos......

……Just cant believe some people…..Same people that wanted to get rid of Billiups after he was awful playing the point his 1st year in Detroit now want to get rid of a 3rd year guy…..Unreal

Eh...

We’re clearly stacked at the guard spot, and someone is going to be trade bait. I just don’t see that being Rodney Stuckey. He’s young and has so much potential. If anyone gets traded, it’s going to be who we’ve thought all along — Richard Hamilton.

I’m not buying into BennieBlades’ Stuckey/Billups comparisons, nor am I sold he’s going to pan out as a PG, but I do agree that we should be a little more patient with him as Stuckey is still very young. And even if you trade Stuckey, you still have three shoot first guards and an expensive contract, aging Hamilton.

Rodney Stuckey never makes an All-Star team

hamilton

The only reason I mentioned stuckey is he would get the most in return because of his potential. I would be ok trading hamilton and moving stuckey to shooting guard as well.
I just feel we need a better big man to compete.

If we trade Rip, I would move Stuckey to sixth man. Let Bynum and Gordon start. But we all know that Dumars loves Stuckey, so I doubt we will see that happen unless Stuckey starts off really slow

Bynum.....

…..is a defensive liability right now……His on the ball defense is ok but he doesnt help well at all…..isnt good in transition d either……Stuckey is hands down better on the defensive end…..thats all that matters to me

keep Stuckey!

I’m a big fan of Stuckey. We all saw what he could do when he was running a real pro offense during his rookie year, not what Curry had that team running last year with Rip and Iverson yapping back and forth. I think he’ll be ok at the point and could also play the 2. He’s a versatile guy with his combination of size and quickness and I think the Pistons need to hold onto him.

Trading Rip is their best option. He’s not getting any younger and he has major problems creating his own shot. His numbers dipped last year when Chauncey was traded for that reason. I like the trade with the Nets mentioned above, but there’s no way they give up Lopez. They know what they have with him. I have no problems with trading for Oden (other than he’s a Buckeye). I think he can be great if he’s healthy. Portland definitely won’t be giving up on him after just one year though.

we're making this decision to early I think...

he played in a shortened rookie season. Than got thrown into a mix of egos and poor coaching. Lets see how he can do in a solid environment before we just send him away.

I'd have to know what the contingency plan would be for point guard if we traded Stuckey

Bynum is a shooting guard, Gordon is a shooting guard, and RIP is an old shooting guard (which means he’s less likely to adjust to a new role, look at the grief just getting him to come off the bench.) Without getting into bringing in a point guard, what does that leave us with? Running the offense through Tayshaun? It’s been done in situations before. One of the keyes this year (just my opinion), once you put a line up on the floor lets stick with it for awhile, last year the shuffling really seemed to get to the team, it definately got to me. I just think it would be nice not to have the regular season be an extended preseason in that regard.

I Believe

We should throw out all previous stats from last season and attribute it to the “Curry Effect” Maxiell had a horrible season too, did he decline in talent? No I think the inconsistent minutes alloted to all the frontcourt hindered him thus contributing to the “Curry Effect” Let’s see how Stuckey does this season before we throw out a potential Derek Rose.

We didn't lose the games, we just ran out of time -- Bobby Layne

my opinion

I do think we should wait until midseason until making a move. I was not happy last year when we traded chauncy after a couple games. I think you make that move during training camp or midseason if things aren’t working out. Although, I am not a big iverson fan so I wasn’t thrilled about it anyways.
