Austin Daye's block on Dwyane Wade ranks amongst best in preseason

Remember the first impression Austin Daye gave us Pistons fans with his Tayshaun-like block in the first game of the preseason?  Well, it was ranked in the top 10 of the preseason, amongst some pretty "ohhhhh" inducing blocks.

Take a peek for yourself:

I'd say that Daye's block lost to a pretty worthy number one.

I'm not as impressed with the #1 block there...

seems to me that Lebron had a bit of time to watch the play develop and set himself up for the block. If you watch you see Lebron slow himself down so he can time it right.

To me Daye’s block gets #1 for these reasons: He just took a shot himself. Than he ran down Dwayne Wade who had no one else in front of him. At that point he than managed to reach across Wades body for the block with out fouling. Plus Daye blocked a dunk. To me that just seems a lot harder to do.

i agree

lebron had a good idea what the guy was going to do, then waited until he had a clean shot at it. daye ran and got his hand on the inside of the shot without fouling, which required much more skill.

I guess what I was most impressed with, while trying to stay impartial, is that Lebron blocked that ball about 20 rows back. I’m a sucker for the emphatic blocks.

But when you think about it

Lebron had enough body control to block it and then get it back for his own team, he was purposfully going for flash. Daye’s block was amazing in that he saved a play and still made it look pretty. I dunno I’m definitely biased here but it was pretty obvious Lebron only wanted the block to look good..

Touche

Like I said, I’m a sucker for those flashy blocks. No right or wrong here I don’t think.

Personally

I think Pop’s block was pretty incredible…that’s leveitation, holmes

This is probably just my Rocket’s bias though
