Rip for Ariza
What about trading Richard Hamilton for Trevor Ariza and a first round pick or two seconds? Ariza can't be traded yet because he just signed a new contract, but if we are still having troubles in like a month when he'll be available, trade(s) have to be considered.
Ariza can play the 2 and the 3 plus has a pretty good contract, both of which are attributes Dumars likes. Houston would do the deal because Rip would fit well in their system and be a good change of personality from T-Mac.

doesn't really seem possible to me...
I prefer the idea of a 1st round pick more than Ariza. But I don’t think a team is going to give both pieces away for an aging basketball player with another year on his contract. It’s not really an equal trade. We’d more than likely have to include another piece, which we don’t really have to trade at this point.
Also if I’m Joe D, I’m only making a trade if I have both Tayshaun and Rip back. For your team to have any chance at success (which I think they still do) you have to have one of your vets out playing productive minutes.

I don't think Dumars wants to trade RIP just yet. I think Prince is most likely to be traded and he would only trade him for a defensive minded big with decent offense.
I think that one of the biggest problems is that the offense is half court without a post true post player. The offense needs to be changed into a running offense and a better transition defense. The need a couple of true bigs that blocks shots and make plays in the post. We all thought that they would be a better offensive team but they are now ranked 26th in the league. We need a big more than we need Ariza. They should be solid at SF even without Prince. Jonas will be a very good player in the next couple of years and he will hold that spot down if a Prince trade goes down.

Getting our big via MLE
I just don’t think there’s an available big guy that’s worth trading Rip or Tay, so I think our best chance is getting the best big guy available for the MLE this coming summer.

Are there any decent Bigs coming up this summer?

As a Rockets fan...
there is no way Daryl Morey would ever make this deal. Especially not right now. The Rockets are actually playing well. Tracy McGrady and Brian Cook are highly available though…

Brian Cook, of course, being HIGHLY, HIGHLY available.

How about Tmac?
Don’t know how much he has left but is an offensive force. Detroit needs a big scorer with some size!

He hasn’t played since February. Why take the chance on someone who ended his own season and opted for surgery?

Despite the big game against Atlanta, the Pistons need a big scorer. When you are last in the division it is time to take chances. A change of scenery can do wonders for players being labeled(fairly or not) by thier present team.
The starters in Atlanta up front was a radical departure and it worked. Keep playing guys who are willing to pound the boards and good things will happen!!

If we trade, it will be to get younger. The only moves that Dumars has done that haven’t accomplished this was bringing back Ben and Chucky. Why would he bring in a thirty year old T-Mac who has never won a playoff series (on the contrary, his team won one without him), is injury prone, is coming off of a knee surgery that has kept him out for 8+ months, and hasn’t been a reliable go-to scorer in a few seasons?

no to Tmac...
A)He’s getting old. B)His body is older than his age admits due to all his injuries. C)He is no longer an offensive force.
We picked up Ben Gordon to be our offensive force. Has he really done that yet? Not entirely but is a decrepit Tmac any sort of improvement?
