Tayshaun Prince Out Indefinitely with Ruptured Disc
We now know that it's going to take more than just a little back strain to keep Tayshaun Prince out of an NBA basketball game.
Via the Detroit Free Press:
Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince will be out indefinitely with what the team said is a small ruptured of a disc in his lower back.
This is bad, obviously, for several reasons. For one, Tayshaun has been a cornerstone of this Pistons team for nearly a decade. He brought it every night with his tough defense and he can put the ball in the hoop in a variety of ways.
The ruptured disc also significantly hurts his trade value. It has been rumored recently that Tayshaun is the Pistons most expendable player due to the play of Jonas Jerebko and Austin Daye in his absence. It's hard to imagine a team is going to bite hard at the availability of an already aging player whose durability, which had to be an enticing characteristic of Prince, is now compromised.

do we have any idea how long he'll be out for?

This is the type of injury that could be season ending
But they tab it “indefinitely” for a reason — they really have no idea. It depends how he responds to treatment. Most ruptured discs respond to nonsurgical treatment. When this does not work, back surgery may be necessary

You have to believe
Arnie Kander and Mike Abdenour are gonna earn their pay here. I can see them helping Tay to a speedy recovery.

what's he weigh?
about a buck o’five. 1 look @ him & you just gotta say, he needs to eat like a crave case & bucket of fried chicken, or5 somethin, anyways, this guy odviously needas to put on some weight, @ least some muscle to handle the rigorous contact & minutes, schedule of being a starter. If you ask me, I’m kinda suprised it hasn’t happened already, 2 bad Joe D wouldn’t trade him.

Well he did go 496 straight games
A remarkable feat no matter what size. I will say it is definitely more impressive given Prince’s frail frame.

Part of me glad to be honest...
I’ve really been liking Jonas in the lineup. He brings good energy. However, Tayshaun’s defense will definitely be missed as well as his versatility.
This could be the perfect opportunity for our rookies to get some playing time.

yeah it looks like jonas could be the steal of the draft. I kind of like daye also though. I just can’t believe how skinny he is. Someone needs to start bringing him to Mcdonalds or something. laugh.
