Classic information. Great work.
I said it in my game one recap, he was the biggest disappointment and continues to be so.

wow…
let’s blame the guy who’s stuck guarding the best player in the NBA and being guarded by him as well…
hopefully Tay can gain 70 pounds before the next game to make it more fair.

Cut Tay a break…Boney’s right. He’s wrapped up with defense now. You try guarding LeBron…

In case you’re wondering how the rest of the league’s small forwards fared against Cleveland this year, here you go. It’d be one thing if Tay were having even marginal success slowing LBJ down, but he’s not.
Dating back to last year, the guy’s averaged six points in each of his last six playoff games — acknowledging the fact that he disappears is hardly unfair.

This marks the second time Tay hasn’t scored in the playoffs against Cleveland since Ben left. That’s not a coincidence.

Look at Tayshaun’s stats vs. the Cavs in 2007 and compare those with his stats in 2006 when we beat Cleveland in the playoffs. Injury or no injury, he’s non-existent this series.

Do those other teams also have old, slow bigs playing the majority of the front court minutes? Because I think we might have a monopoly on that…

Wow. Those stats are pitiful. Can we officially put this “Tayshaun is an elite defender” nonsense to rest? I mean, really, sure, he kept Hedo bottled up the last few years, and kept Iguodala wrapped up for a series, but since 2005 he’s been routinely getting raped by quality SF’s (a class he himself is supposedly a part of). Is he tired? Is he hurt? Who knows. He looks like an alien.

Yes, Tay was a better defender when opposing players were afraid to drive on him because Ben would send it back 3 times per game. That says something about him, but it says more about our bigs.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone in thinking that.
IMO, our bigs are our biggest defensive liability — largely because MCIAFI insists on playing Sheed + Dice for the majority of the minutes and at the same time.
We need either:
1) Sheed + Max/Amir
2) Dice + Amir/Kwame
to play the bulk of our minutes in order to be successful.
MCIAFI has still not realized that, and now we’re down 2-0 and apparently have given up.

I think Big Ben’s 3 bpg has less to do with it and more to do with not putting people on their asses when they come into the lane. You don’t have to hurt anyone, and I’m not suggesting that. But you get fouled hard enough over a 4-7 game series taking it to the hole, I guarantee you you’ll have alot more pullup jumpers at the FT line.
And given the fact that neither wallace nor Verajo can hit anything from outside 3 feet, there’s gotta be a big hanging around the basket most of the time.
Det gets blown out tonite with same lethargic effort, the boos will be so loud Joe D. will leave and they won’t be able to fill the Palace for game 4 with free tickets to all the girls and boys clubs in MI. This could get vey ugly.

Ironically, Big Brothers Big Sisters received a whole bunch of free tickets today — and I know this because I’m a BBBS volunteer.
You’re a prophet, MB.

Sure, of course, yes, absolutely.
Sheed has lost his fire. Dice has his fire but ain’t gonna knock anyone on his ass.
I say let Max/Amir start over Sheed and let the baby eating begin.

I never really understood the lets knock people on their asses mentality. The reality is that you really can’t do to much of that w/o racking up flagrants, giving the other team lots of free points, putting the opposition in the bonus, and/or fouling out important players. I like toughness as much as the next guy, but good defenses defend w/o fouling. We used to be really good at that.
