This is terrible. I hope he plays a heck of a lot better than this song is.

For the amount of money EAS paid Ben Gordon to do this I’m sure it made sense to do it.

I hear Jake Voskuhl and Marcus Williams can be had.

All work and no play make Joe Dumars a dull boy.
There’s a lot of Pistons fans that feel like Shelley Duvall right about now.

I like the pick ups thus far. I think there is more to come plus a new coach. It will be an interesting year to say the least. Fingers are still crossed for Laimbeer though it won’t happen….

The only thing that comes to mind is… average homeboy… but he still is dominant on the court

LOL man!! This really isn’t helping!
Right now I hate Joe Dumars.. I mean.. man.. we have a lot of SG’s but NO POINT GUARD!!!!!!!
And we Sign a NEW Shooting Guard .. but we’ll still having problems with the Point.
I Think that Stuckey could be a Sixht man coming off the bench replacing Hamilton.. if we get a good Point (Kidd? Sessions?)
But I don’t know.. I’ll still have hope!
And you all should do!

fail……
I wonder what M&M plans to do to him when Gordon walks in acting like he’s from the hood

So . . . those lyrics were so tricky he has to (as the video repeatedly shows) read them off a a sheet of paper?
Seriously, Gordon may be a fine SG, but Detroit needs a center.

YIKES!!! i was hoping it was going to be a parody, not hom actually rapping
this is just as bad as tony parker’s raps

Wow, that was brutal. At the 18 second mark he actually says “Jump shots – breaking newton’s law — draining balls.”
Somebody should let him know that “draining balls” carries an entirely different meaning here in Detroit.

I would say this music video was terrible as a Chicago Bull but now, it sounds like music (and winning) in my ears as a Detroit Piston.

Lots of championship caliber players have made terrible music crossover decisions.
Shaq’s rap album(s).
Kobe’s rap album.
AI’s rap album.
Ron-Ron’s girl group.
One word— “Jam.”
Two words— “Space Jam.”
Wayman Tisdale would be the exception to the rule, who was actually much better musician (INCREDIBLE jazz bass) than he was a basketball player— and he was a great basketball player.

@Sauce:
-1 for no classic Missy Elliot back when Timbaland was still a genius.

@ Mike Payne:
That’s actually something that’s kinda worthy, so there’s no way in hell it would end up on that list.

Understood. Ya know, in spite of the fact that not a lot of brain when into that song, it was actually a very special moment in music. I grew up training as a classical pianist, operated a recording studio for 7 years in college, have spent much of my life focused on music— and as superficial as that song may sound, it is brilliant. At that moment, Timbaland created a sub-genre of hip hop / pop music that was truly special (and overlooked).
The syncopated rhythm, the triplet hi-hats, the swelling synth bass, the atmospheric sound effects— lightyears ahead of it’s time. Missy Elliot could be completely removed from that song and it’d still be brilliant.
I’ll gladly take heat for defending that song like that, but shit— it represented a quite brilliant moment in music where genres collided. Hip hop, pop, electronic music and drum n bass were one for just a moment.

@ Mike Payne:
Not only did I know what song you’re talking about, but I think you don’t quite understand my joke. This is going to kill the joke, but the explanation is that the tracks on the Ben Gordon Soundtrack has ‘manufactured crap’ in mind. They’re crappy songs. They’re things that rape my ears, just like Ben Gordon’s game rapes my basketball sensibilities. It’s total garbage, lovingly packaged in something that even Rhino wouldn’t want to try selling.
And that’s why Missy’s track isn’t anywhere near the list.
Because if you notice, there’s no Guns ‘N’ Roses “November Rain,” no Bacharach “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” no Blind Melon “No Rain,” no Beatles “Rain,” none of that … because that’s good shit, like Missy’s ditty.
I’m totally not putting Missy on there because I respect that track. I’m not sure why you’re defending it …. I mean, are you suggesting that Ben Gordon deserves a good soundtrack?

I seriously thought Tay Zonday and Milli Vanilli would clue everyone in on what this is. I give up.

@ MP: I think most people that follow hip hop know that that song was definitely groundbreaking.
@ sauce: As long as BG isn’t doing the songs it will be a good soundtrack…but seriously, why not try and give the guy a good soundtrack? Hell, he’s a newly acquired Piston.
