Today was the first day that free agents could sign their new contracts, so the Pistons held a press conference announcing the official signing of Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. The deals were agreed to on July 1, the day free agents and their agents could officially begin negotiating with teams.

Gordon and Villanueva joined the Pistons on Wednesday, the first day NBA teams could sign free agents, after agreeing to deals worth $55 million and $35 million, respectively.
The 26-year-old Gordon averaged 20.7 points last season for Chicago, leading the team in scoring for the fourth straight year. Villanueva, who turns 25 next month, averaged 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds last season with Milwaukee.
