A warriors trade idea for Tayshaun

From Warriors:

Stephen Jackson

Kelenna azubuike

(optional) Acie Law (2.2 mil expiring contract)

For:

Tayshaun Prince

1st rounder

you guys get stephen jackson, a great one on one defender, scorer, and playmaker. His downsides are his unpredictable attitude, about 17 techs a year, and turnovers. But despite that, he can put up all star numbers with the likes of Kobe, Lebron, and Wade. When he was healthy, he averaged around 28 ppg 6apg 5rp. That's a pretty good addtion.

Plus, you get a great roleplayer in Azubuike, who is a very efficient scorer, good defender, and rebounder. Azubuike will give you a top five 3 pt % at around 45%.

How do the people of motown like this trade?

I think this is a pretty good trade for Tayshaun. How do the people of motown think?

We just got rid of 'Sheed and Iverson

We don’t need Steven Jackson corrupting our young players. Even though the #1 pick will probably be a high one.

I would rather keep Tay’s monotony.

Jackson is a shooting guard who can guard both positions (And very well, admittedly). We already have three starting shooting guards on the team in Rip, Gordon, and Stuckey (he’s not much of a point guard, let’s be honest here). Not to mention that we’ve finally gotten rid of the only downside of Sheed in his inability to control himself. Why would we replace that, especially on a team that just went from one of the oldest to one of the youngest in the matter of 10 months?

And besides, Tayshaun is as good an on-ball defender as Jackson is. Tayshaun is one of the few players in the league (him and Battier, really) that can come close to shutting down the likes of Kobe or Lebron or Wade or Melo. Jackson is good but I’ve never seen him being that good.

And Azubuike is a 6’5 shooting guard/small forward. What good does that do us? We already have a loaded backcourt. Our team is incredibly small as it is. Rip may be 6’8 at the 2 but he’s only 190lbs at best. Gordon is a 6’4 shooting guard. Stuckey is 6’3, I think, and plays out of position at the 1. Our centers are 6’10 (Wilcox who will likely start), 6’11 (Kwame Brown), and 6’8 (Ben Wallace). We can’t afford to lose any more size out on the court and losing Tayshaun and his 7’2 wingspan and 6’9 body for Jackson’s 6’8 body and non-freakish wingspan just is a bad idea for us.

That should be “Jackson is a shooting guard who can defend both the 2 and 3”

The thing I like about Jackson

Is he has the “takeover reflex” that Tayshaun just doesn’t have. Tay has lit it up before, especially when we have injuries. But during the playoffs when we go on those droughts, we’d never count on Tay to get us out of them, Jackson is far more likely to get us out of those. I think Jackson would’ve been a better fit if we still had the old core in place, he can defend well and he can score alot better in place. For now I’d like to see what type of team the Pistons are before we wheel and deal.

I would much rather give up Rip and someone else for Jackson than Tayshaun. Having Jackson and Tayshaun out there to guard Boston (Allen, Pierce and Rondo are all dangers) or Cleveland with Mo and Lebron would be nice. But I am with you. I think we need to wait before we do anything. Tayshaun or Rip will be traded by the deadline unless things click like they did in 2004.

It's...intriguing

I remember having Jackson on my fantasy basketball team and he straight tore it up fr the Warriors. Something to the tune of 25 pts, 7 ast, and 7 rebs in 3 weeks. The best thing about Jackson is he can light it up, but he can also defend. Dunno if the Pistons are ready to take on the guy that threw haymakers at random guys in the crowd. And ‘Buike just hinders our 3 rookies’s progress, but I would consider it. The pick might make me lean towards sticking with Tayshaun. Especially if we finish near lottery.

I don't think we want Jackson on the team

He’s good, but he, JO and Artest were the guys in the brawl back then. No one would like him in the D.

Maybe if it’s Biedrins instead of Jackson, I’ll give you Chris Wilcox, Can you take that?

We were in the hunt for Artest two deadlines ago (may have actually been this past deadline now that I think about it) and were also rumored to be going after him this summer. Journalists here in Detroit didn’t seem to mind that one bit.

I don't think so

I don’t think Dumars had ANY interest him. Everything we heard was most likely speculation because he was one of the top defenders available.

Perhaps. But the fact that the media (mainly Detroit media) were willing to report this and make it sound like a good thing tells me that the whole Brawl is a thing of the past and no longer matters to us. Jackson, Artest, O’Niel or whoever else coming to Detroit probably wouldn’t be looked at as a bad thing anymore.

jackson will never come here. if the pistons do anything with rip or tayshaun they should make a trade for the only player worth trading them for and thats chris bosh. hes the best center/power forward in the league.

Really? Bosh is better than Howard? I think not. He’s not even better than Stoudemire in my opinion. Also has some strong competition in Gasol and Boozer.

Your reaching on Boozer

Forgetting health, Boozer is about on par with Bosh in my opinion. Bosh is just too soft in the middle for my liking.

by Apocalyptic0n3 on Sep 26, 2009 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You cant forget health though

Boozer has not completed a full season, Ever. 3 of his 7 years he has missed more than 30 games.

eh, looking at the numbers Bosh hasnt completed an enitire season either.

Guess I just have no love for Boozer and all his antics. I like Bosh more with all of his YouTube stuff. He’s funny and seems approachable.

I know you can’t forget health, but Boozer is the better player overall in my opinion.

I agree about what you said in that last sentence, though. Bosh has a great personality. He’s like Howard or Shaq. They just seem like great people to be around.

I do like Bosh's skill set

He is not the top F/C in the NBA. Top 5? Yes, when he’s healthy. He plays like a 3, takes alot of 15-20 footers.
Stoudemire is better but is playing on borrowed time, those knees can only last so long.
Howard is the #1 PF/C in the NBA, he is a monster.
