I missed the game & thread due to a hospital visit
but it’s fantastico to see these goddamn bums squeak a W out.
I DVRd the midnight re-broad so I’ll be up in here talking my shit.
Congrats on the win Detroit.
Please sir, may have some more?

If we make the playoffs.
I’m going to very pissed. And right now we’re only 4.5 games out.

Playoffs are good for morale, good for the team.
Good for the old fellers and the young bucks.
Just prepare yourself for either scenario TJL.

They're also bad for the future of the team.
Even if we don’t get John Wall, there’s tons of talent in the lottery that could have an immediate impact and make us better in the long run, too.

I got you on that.
I’m just saying I don’t expect these dudes to lose another 12 joints like that.
"We’re going to turn this team around 360 degrees." –Jason Kidd
Nah, in all honesty it's going to take winning at a plus .500 clip to make the playoffs
So it’s unlikely, but my fear is that they’re going to try and push for it anyway and get stuck with a worse pick for it.

We improve no matter what.
No more stretches like the shit they just pulled.
That’s good news.

Honestly, they can improve and still lose.
I agree that I don’t want to see us get whopped by 20+ points on a nightly basis.

Is there another Kevin Durant coming out of this draft or anything like him?
They need a SG or SF that can dominate. I would like to see a guy 6’7 or taller throw it down with some authority! Prince, Hamilton not so much.
Bernard, Percy and AP oh my!
Unfortunately
making the playoffs in the NBA seems to be far too easy. Last year pissed me off since it was quite obvious we didn’t belong there.
I'm great man
It was a poor little 6-day old fella whose heart has been red-lining the past couple days. Very scary

Haha, he gets the little Stones jersey as soon as they discharge him from medical jail
Uncle Skylar will furnish one.

It might be too big for him.
But honestly, you could have it. I don’t want it anymore.

If Tay is still on the squad, there’s a little toddler Tay jersey making the rounds with some Future Pistons of DBB kids… Hope he gets his discharge soon!

I must admit, I still miss DBB 1.0
I’m still getting used to this.
by Terrence J. Lynch on Jan 12, 2010 10:35 PM EST up reply actions
I've converted
The site is waaaay more stable. The commenting features are fantastic, and there’s a whole new community of Pistons fans to get to know.
I’m sold.
by brgulker on Jan 12, 2010 10:37 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
It took me a bit to get used to it, too. But I like it. The only things I miss are the old DBB top banner, and the white text on black background (as TJL already stated).
I agree on those two things for sure
But I gotta say, I love that the site doesn’t freeze after trying to refresh…
by brgulker on Jan 13, 2010 8:48 AM EST up reply actions 1 recs
DBB 1.0
I always lurked on there, but I think this site is almost more user friendly because you don’t have to refresh every five seconds to see if there are any comments. Plus, that black background was intimidating, like the white font was going to make me look stupid.

I wasn't going to say anything because I didn't want to be rude
But I thought about throwing it out there that the merging had jinxed the Pistons. No longer.
I root for the Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings and yes, the Lions.
www.twitter.com/zajareich
I’m definitely coming around to DBB 2.0, but I’m still not a big fan of searching so hard for all the new comments. They’re in multiple threads, and they’re not just at the bottom of the threads — a lot of times they’re pretty much every where. But the fans are the same (and more plentiful), and that’s what matters most.

Are you using the Z button?
Once you click comments from the front page and it loads, you can hit Z and it takes you to the upper most located NEW comment. Once you’re done reading it, hit it again and it’ll take you to the next new comment you haven’t read. That will make life a whole lot easier than just looking for new stuff on your own.

I actually just tried it for your post, works well.
I have problems reading everything on the page sometimes, totally & repeatedly missed that feature.

I still want to make the playoffs
I know, I know, but I do. Of course, what I want doesn’t always happen, and we’ve dug a big hole. And I don’t want to get too excited — even the Lions can win a game or two out of 16.
More importantly, I echo the good wishes of the others, Skyer.

I missed this one...
The absence of my pessimism was the key to victory?
Nice to see Stuck with such solid numbers — did he look as good as the box score suggests?
Box scores all around!
Wow, other than Rip, looks like we were all at our best.
Charlie with 23 and 9 (on 13 shots!)! Beautiful.
Other nice stats
23 on 13 shots is indeed beautiful. I personally like the 23-10 assist-TO ratio. Weird stat of the night: best +/- score is Chucky, with +13, followed by Maxiell at +12. Then again, I’ve never been a big believer in +/-.
MFTJ
If I was to place a wager It would be on them getting into the post-season. I just would.
Good lookin’ on the good thoughts, lil’ man will be fine I bet. Heart meds for life, but a healthy heart with any luck.

…but best wishes and prayers for the little man.
Thanks Potna.
He’ll pull through. Medicine has never been better.

Nice state line, too though
Plus Tay and Gordon are out, which means Q’s first two options at the 3 were not available (Tay then Rip).
slap me in the face and call me crazy
but my gut’s telling me the Pistons could have a 4 game winning streak by the time the C’s come to town on the 20th

Keep in mind that Washington is more dysfunctional than we are.
I somehow doubt it.
by Terrence J. Lynch on Jan 12, 2010 10:09 PM EST up reply actions
Actually, the really are
Let’s face it, the Wizards without Agent Zero suck. And all this publicity about him and Crittenton can’t help. And they really aren’t that great when all is going well for them. Still, Detroit has lost to some crappy teams lately, so I’ll take it.
The 2009 wizards may prove to be the 2004 Pacers.
Minus the amazing roster at the time.
Arenas may’ve wrecked the franchise with the bullshit he’s been on… this team gets detonated, this season I think.
The roster they had wasn’t really ever competing for anything real, but at least they were fun to watch, at times.
Pour a beer out for those fools, and Flip. He walked into a nightmare season.
"We’re going to turn this team around 360 degrees." –Jason Kidd
To be fair.
They were bad WITH Arenas this year. Arenas stupidity, however, may present a way out for the team, as they can use the moral clause in his contract to terminate it.
by Terrence J. Lynch on Jan 12, 2010 10:34 PM EST up reply actions
I don't dispute that there is a whole lot of suck going on with the Wizards
but the Pistons have been streaky this year, so with two games against the Knicks coming up, now is as good as any time to string some W’s together.
Detroit Bad Boys- SB Nation's Detroit Pistons Blog
I agree they were shit with Arenas on the court.
He wrecked the franchise with his contract. Not playing for it, then all the garbage ass behavior that has gone down since.
I’m saying he’s the catalyst for them looking at Antwan Jamison, Brendan homophobe, and Caron Butler and deciding to go fire-sale.
It’s cool I guess because the fans and everybody else can move on- but he’s making Flip look bad, and he sold his team mates out, in addition to going out of his way to clown rookies and be a general asshole. Fuck Agent Zero, he’s a true cipher.
"We’re going to turn this team around 360 degrees." –Jason Kidd
What happens to Arenas though?
Do you think somebody’ll take a chance on him, or is he done? God knows worse players have made it out of stuff like this.
by Biz Markie Moon on Jan 12, 2010 10:36 PM EST up reply actions
Arenas
May be washed up, physically. He was a shell of his former self this season, which is a big reason why the Wiz were so piss poor this season.
If I’m the Wiz management, I’m trying like hell to dissolve that contract, trade Jamison and Butler for expiring deals, and have something like 30 million to rebuild the franchise with, in addition to a high lottery pick.
Yeah, poor Flip, but the gun incident could end up being the best thing that’s ever happened to that franchise in the long run.
Hate to go OT after a win...

Streaky Pistons...
Hey if you count a streak as including at least 3 games, the pistons have 2 losing streaks (of 7 and 13) and 2 winning streaks (of 3 and 5)…if we go the rest of the season without another 3+ game losing streak and we go on a few winning streaks (4 streaks of 3 games for example)…the streaks cancel out…oh yeah and currently, if you away all the 3+ game losing/winning streaks, the Pistons are just 4-5…I don’t know about you guys but that gave me a different perspective of the season thus far…one far better than it has felt the past week…
That's a terribly complicated formula you got there.
I’ll simplify it.
We are currently 12-25.
We are 4.5 games out of the playoffs.
We are in a three way time for the 3rd worst record in the league.
So, what’ll it be? Getting smacked around in first round by Boston? Or a legit shot at John Wall?
by Terrence J. Lynch on Jan 12, 2010 11:46 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
It's not any more complicated than what you just replied...
I thought I just broke the season down to 4-5, two losing streaks, and two winning streaks…not that complicated really…now your post on the other hand requires me to read into what you’re trying to say and answer a rhetorical set of questions…when you say 4.5 games out of the playoffs, I assume you equate that with “getting smacked around in the first round” and that being a not-so-bad season….and the 3rd worst record in league thing I’m guessing you equate with the legit chance at John Wall and a poor season (with perhaps better implications for after the season)…as for me, I have too much pride in the Pistons and even a legit chance at a potentially great NBA player like John Wall doesn’t allow me to accept the Pistons losing badly…
I'm with you, bpcruiza
I would rather see them play better and get a worse draft pick.
by Toledo Joe on Jan 13, 2010 8:18 AM EST up reply actions 1 recs
The problem is.
The worse pick we get, the longer the rebuild. It’s just going to make us go through more seasons like this, which I know most people don’t particularly like.
by Terrence J. Lynch on Jan 13, 2010 8:26 AM EST up reply actions
that's associating a higher pick with higher talent...
higher picks just mean that you get to choose from more talent available. Gold can be found further down the line still.

Rarely.
How often are franchise level players found outside of the top 10?
by Terrence J. Lynch on Jan 13, 2010 9:18 PM EST up reply actions
Not sure if when madpoopz said “gold” he meant “franchise player,” but here’s my super quick list of recently drafted guys who weren’t top picks, and are pretty sweet players:
Rondo, Millsap, David Lee, Monta Ellis, Marc Gasol, Granger, Biedrins, Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Kevin Martin, Ariza, David West, Josh Howard, Tay, Boozer.
Also, there’s been a random good run of 10th picks:
Caron Butler, Andrew Bynum, Brook Lopez, and Brandon Jennings.
Usually the very best players are picked at the top of the draft, but there are always players who teams pass on for no particular reason (Ty Lawson), or aren’t valued properly (Blair), or are actually better than most teams who didn’t do their homework thought (Casspi).
I guess
its only fitting for the Lions and Pistons to end there losing streaks to Washington
by LionsPistonsFan on Jan 13, 2010 9:58 AM EST reply actions 1 recs
Tay is done.
He hit his peak 3 years ago and hasent been the same since. This injury is lingering so it will be hard to trade him. They should have traded him this past summer while he still had value.
Bernard, Percy and AP oh my!
Bum knees.
Not that Donald Sterling deserves anything close to even a mediocre team, but I feel bad for cats like Eric Gordon, and even Baron “Wait, Elton left for Philly?” Brand. I also feel for the Clipse fans because I know they see the Fakers every year and wish their team was that good just for one season.
