Morning Shootaround: Pistons Links Galore!
For all the n00bs, I used to do a morning link dump with a little analysis to supplement the links. However, it became way too time consuming to write what wound up being multiple mini-posts within one main post, so that, school, and the holiday season is why you haven't seen it since DBB 2.0 took the blogsphere by storm.
Having said that, we still want to bring you all the Pistons links in existence, and because SB Nation's awesome platform makes it so incredibly easy to do straight up link dumps, that's exactly what we're going to try getting into the habit of doing for you. Our hope is to have these up every morning so you can sift through all the Pistons recaps and write ups while you eat your Cookie Crisp. Then, when you're done drinking the milk, you can leave your thoughts in the comments until you're late for work, school, or the 8 AM episode of Saved by the Bell.
Links after the jump. Feedback on the idea would be appreciated.

ahhhh...
I missed this. I’m far to lazy to browse the internet myself.

My Blog: Inside A Head
I was going to post the Pistons/Wings arena as a fanshot.
The palace is old, but it’s not really aging. I don’t see the Stones moving outta there.
But, “alternate” type games could be played at the new arena. I guess the only concern would be the team playing on so many different courts in a season. At this point it’s purely speculative though.
I’m just thrilled they are talking about building in downtown Detroit.

I like link dumps, but I have to say I prefer them on the weekends over weekdays.
However, I do wonder if it’s more beneficial to post some of the best as fanshots?
No, she’s only considering selling a house in Colorado :) I worded it that way in my fanshot just to be a douchebag…
I didn't know that either
But that News article definitely suggests it.
In the meantime, Pistons owner Karen Davidson seriously is considering selling the Pistons and Palace Sports and Entertainment. She already has had a conversation with NBA commissioner David Stern on the process and protocol for attracting potential buyers. Once she sells, there would be nothing keeping the Pistons tethered to The Palace.

Now, I see PS emphasized that quote in the FanShots

Thanks for the link
Would fans be opposed to going downtown to watch the Pistons? Would it be a better atmosphere? I know, especially in the time between the championships, the Palace often got rapped as a buttoned up stuffy crowd.
I'm just one fan
but it would be cool to see them back in Detroit proper.
In Portland, you can take a bus to see the Blazers. It drops you off right in front of the Rose Garden.
I think it would be sweet to take a bus to see the Pistons.

I live downtown and would love it if the stones played down here
I might actually make it out to games. Its a bitch driving out to the palace and its hard to find a dd that’s down with making that trip.

I'm against the move
I may be in the minority, but I live up near Saginaw. Detroit is long way to drive to see a game. Going to Auburn Hills isn’t to bad to see the Pistons, but going to see Red Wings or Tigers all the way downtown takes lots of extra time.
They could split the season or something.
If I was the shotcaller I would commission downtown-only jerseys for the new arena.
Maybe even Bad Boys throwbacks, I think Ben Wallace deserves to wear one for at least a season.

The Palace is nice, but
For fans in Toledo (like me), Detroit would be quicker and easier to get to.
I like it
Though I was a “noob” in the original DBB, so my opinion many not hold much weight. It is updated often enough, organized and easy to use. Leaving the conversation and catching up where you left is much easier. Plus the fanposts/shots enable to mantain certain constant subjects as the game thread move on.
However, I must add that I would trade all that in for the black background with the white fond. That just kicked too much ass.
The white on black background was bad ass. We’d have it here if we could. But all the bells and whistles I talked about that are available on SB Nation make the color display almost a petty feature.
Detroit Bad Boys- SB Nation's Detroit Pistons Blog
i like the way the site is set up now. the black background was cool, but hard to read on my i-pod when i was out and about.
i do miss it, more for nostalgia then any other practical reason. out of the pistons blogs i have looked at this is by far my favorite. the commentators and contributors are whats important not the layout. the commenting auto refresh is fucking sweet. it makes the game threads way more fun in my opinion.
but back on topic
darko is a total bitch. jesus christ what a cry baby. i feel no sympathy for him. he’s not a great player. he is the definition of a bust. i mean kwame is a huge bust as well, but at least he can settle for a bit role and try when he’s out there. darko always played and acted like everyone should bow down for him and let him score or rebound at will.
“Darko is a total bitch”
I pitched this as the new name of DBB, but it didn’t get much traction.

I love that swede.

Lots of good links
Nicely done Packey. GMs didn’t pick Blair because they place too much emphasis on getting zero from a pick because a guy has an injury history. The Pistons got zero from plenty o’ picks because they sucked while healthy so what’s the difference? Blair regularly outplayed Hasheem Thabeet at, uh, the game of basketball. That should count for something in a draft of basketball players. Somehow the guy who got outplayed is a top pick and the other guy is a 2nd rounder. Stoopid.
Also, add me to the chorus of voices who misses the fire banner. I appreciate the features of the SB platform but visually it’s a bit of a mess. The ratio of ads and widgets to Pistons related photos is way, way to high.
Is Jon Berry Stupid or Something Like That
On the Nuggets – Jazz game tonight Berry was talking about the record for the least combined offensive rebounds in a NBA game. He said that the record was 6 and it been done a couple of times including once by the 1947 Detroit Zephyrs?
How much do they pay this idiot?
I will admit that Zollner and Zephyrs both begin with a “Z” but the 1947 Pistons edition was the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons, The Pistons weren’t even in Detroit in 1947.
Jon Berry, what an idiot
