I'd feel for the guy, but he had it coming.
Go cut some grass Brett.

Kevin,
What did Chauncey do to draw such horrible comparisons?
He hasn’t played 19 years to milk every record at a position.
He hasn’t retired five times.
He hasn’t been a spokesman for Wrangler or Sears.

I think by Chauncey
he means that it seemed like every year chauncey would choke in the playoffs and that is what brett favre does. Has a great season but then in the playoffs they both find ways to lose.
Brett Favre: 5 NFC Championship appearances, two wins, one Super Bowl
Chauncey: 7 East Conference Finals appearances, two wins, one trophy
It’s sad that Chauncey’s line looks worse…

I know point guard is essentially the "QB" of basketball...
but I think the position is less emphasized because to me basketball is more of a team sport than football. Especially on those Pistons teams where there were enough intelligent ball handlers that Chauncey’s role could change easily on the offensive end. I mean the guy handling the ball could’ve easily been Sheed standing at the top of the key or Tay bringing the ball up the court.
I know Chauncey’s job was to be the ball handler but the point remains that he wasn’t the only one. In football there is only one ball handler who determines who moves when and where and how. He can decide if you ever get to touch the football. Every game rides upon the shoulders of his decisions.
Not so much with Chauncey’s Pistons.

Brett is the Allen Iverson of football
He likes self centered drama and he doesn’t like practice.

Thanks Kevin!
As a Vikings fan suffering from the most traumatic loss since 1998, I thought I’d check out my favorite Pistons blog. You know, try to keep my mind on something else. So, yeah…
Good news, though. The seizures only lasted a few minutes.
No way
Chauncey may have a similar track record in playoffs, but IMHO he’s clearly a much more high-character guy. I don’t recall Chauncey being a diva princess holding the future of two different teams captive.
Also, I don’t think you could place any Pistons loss in the playoffs squarely on Chauncey’s shoulders like you can with Favre. I’ve said it in other threads and I’ll say it here. The Pistons never repeated after 2004 because their bench sucked, not because of their starters.

It's a good comparison.
It is. Chauncey isn’t a shoo-in HOFer like Brett, but in recent years it’s safe to say they’ve been following the same career trajectory. Unlike Favre, however, I don’t say “Fuck You, Chauncey Billups” every time I see him on TV. So there’s that.
I like Brett
I think the retire/unretire bit is ridiculous, but other than that, I like him.
Great competitor, great teammate, wants to win, plays hard. He might share more in common with Sheed in that if he’s not on your team, you hate him (i.e., he’s very polarizing).
It’s a shame he went out to crappy NFL overtime, though. They really gotta fix that.
I'm unsure when he started doing so
but at one point, Favre demanded he have his own dressing room while playing for the Packers.
He was the only player to do so.
I think that’s very silly. I don’t know if it was about the time he started pushing to go to Minnesota (and instead did a year on the Jets) but the guys on that team say they hated him. I think he’s only sometimes a great teammate.
The Vikes adore him, though. No argument there.

and the guys on that team loved sanchez after the atlanta game?
no they took him aside and beat the shit out of him and told him it would be even worse next time if he didn’t start throwing interceptions.

bret favre had a great year and is hof warrior
pushed the vikings to the brink of the super bowl in an away dome game against a 13-3 team at age forty. he came back from being knocked silly by two huge guys half his age to lead his team to the tying score. he made one bad pass after getting his team squared away for a possible field goal. the refs blew two straight replay challenges that allowed new orleans to kick the field goal. ….and people are giving favre crap? the dude is a warrior.
