Another boring story from John Salley

John Sallley's stories remind me of Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories

It’s a fine line between being honest and telling cool, unfiltered stories about your playing days and sounding like a dick.
I agree
John Salley comes off as a bitter asshole, especially towards Isiah

That is kind of true.
In other news, is there any more of a sad basketball player than Isiah Thomas? A top 5 point guard whose post playing life has been a complete wreck. People almost forget he was one of the best players of all time because he’s fucked up his post playing life so much.

I don’t think it’s that hard … Isiah’s professional career has been a disaster, and he’s had some personal troubles no doubt, but plenty of former NBA players have had their personal and professional lives completely disintegrate after their playing days.
Usually the superduperstars stay in the NBA conscience, though. Isiah’s career seems like a footnote between Magic/Bird and Jordan, and he doesn’t seem to get very much respect for that. I bet the league would prefer if he just went away for a while because of all of his post-playing screw ups.

This is what I’m saying. I’m surprised there isn’t some Stern related conspiracy theory about Isiah Thomas, because God knows I love David Stern conspiracy theories.

Gotcha.
I guess I just misunderstood the point. I agree that Zeke isn’t remembered among the other greats of his era.
Being a post-playing days train wreck will do that to you—as evidenced by two other former Pistons, Dennis Rodman and (in a few years, I predict), Allen Iverson.
