Idle Speculation

the lakers look completely unstoppable, and they're doing it without starting center andrew bynum. lamar odom is playing the best ball of his (suddenly 12-year) career, and the current starting lineup (odom/gasol) is still tall enough to compete against the best of their challengers.

if you completely remove bynum from the equation--as is the case right now--the lakers lack for backup size beyond the ageless theo ratliff.

if I were mitch kupchak, I would try to trade bynum for veteran backup size (and/or veteran backup shooting and veteran backup wing defense) to a Desperately Screwed team searching hopelessly for a quality starting big man.

probably no less than a dozen bad teams would at least have to consider it, knee problems and all.
