Does CP3's Injury Affect Detroit's Trading Season?
It's 3:30 AM and I'm about to hit the hay, so I don't have time to make this into a full blown, well thought out post, but I wanted there to be a thread available for discussion. As you probably know by now, Chris Paul is out for up to two months (and possibly the season) with a knee injury that will require him to have arthroscopic surgery.
There were rumors floating around last year and even earlier this season that the Hornets could be a trading partner of the Pistons. Now that the Hornets have lost their star point guard, does that re-open the door to a potential deal?
Right now the Hornets are battling for a playoff spot with Darren Collison as their starting point guard and Marcus Thornton at the SG. With a withered Mo-Pete backing up Thornton, they could definitely upgrade at the guard spot (with Rip? Bynum?) or could mail it in altogether.
They are currently hanging on to the eight spot in the Western Conference for dear life and aren't a franchise exactly thriving economically. If they think their odds of making the playoffs are zilch without Chris Paul, they may be willing to dump, say, David West or Emeka Okafor for contracts that don't bog them down so much (those two contracts are three years and five years respectively -- and rich).
What do you think, creative Pistons fans? Can a trade with the Hornets work?.

I don't see Bower
making a trade for a SG to play in front of thornton, I think he’s trying to prove a point the rest of the season to show that he has done an acceptable job as a GM.
That said we could offer them Austin Daye to go with Kwame and Wilcox and get Emeka in return. It’d shed salary this season for the hornets and let them try to develop Daye to add another piece who could affect CP3 staying in 2012.
I’d like Emeka, but don’t know if we’d do this trade while still having RIp and Tayshaun.
Don't see this happening
As much as I love David west and Emeka I just don’t see them making a move with them.
