All-Star Saturday Open Thread

It's All-Star Saturday Night! Featuring ... zero Pistons. (Remember when Arron Afflalo and Bill Laimbeer would own the Shooting Stars competition? Sigh. Those were the days.)

On the flip side, at least there's Chauncey Billups, who's participating in the 3-Point Contest. Watch the festivities and join your DBB brethren in the comment section.

Leave it to the NBA to make a fast-paced, fun game like Horse become slow, awkward, and boring. Why not just let them play it out instead of drag it out?

Yeah the horse competition should be self-policed/ref’d. Just mic the guys up and see what happens. And having Chris Webber and Kenny milling about trying to be funny was painful to watch and listen to.

That would have been awesome if Nash stuffed Deron’s lay-up.

Ok...

Can I see an interesting dunk please?

Here come Nate’s annual 300 attempts……

by garrettelliott on Feb 13, 2010 10:24 PM EST reply actions

Flip Murray?

now known as Gerald Wallace’s bitch.

by madpoopz on Feb 13, 2010 10:31 PM EST reply actions

I thought Shannon Brown, but now I gotta go with DeRozan.

by garrettelliott on Feb 13, 2010 10:38 PM EST reply actions

I'm gonna go with Nate...

I think he has something up his little sleeves.

by madpoopz on Feb 13, 2010 10:40 PM EST up reply actions

Not with dunks like that. Yikes. Can he really do that between-the-legs dunk?

by garrettelliott on Feb 13, 2010 10:42 PM EST up reply actions

That was still pretty sweet for a little guy, though.

Way to kill the tiny bit of momentum they had by having an interview and some text voting. Hooray.

by garrettelliott on Feb 13, 2010 10:40 PM EST reply actions

Zzz is right. Man, that was turrible.

by garrettelliott on Feb 13, 2010 10:46 PM EST up reply actions

I think Jonas won the dunk competition...

because thinking of Jonas is more interesting than the dunks that actually happened.

by madpoopz on Feb 13, 2010 10:47 PM EST up reply actions

Worst All-Star event winners ever. Except for Steve Nash, who is awesome.

by garrettelliott on Feb 13, 2010 10:51 PM EST reply actions

actually I take that back...

give the trophy to Chuck. He was probably the most interesting person actually at the competition.

by madpoopz on Feb 13, 2010 10:52 PM EST reply actions

that was terrrrrrrrrrible.

Can’t they change the format or something? For a “dunk contest” there aren’t actually very many dunks.

Maybe do a sudden death “dunk off,” where both guys have to keep dunking until one of them gets a perfect score, then the other guy gets a chance to respond and if he gets a perfect score they keep going. So many ways to make it more entertaining.

weak all around

least favorite NBA player, Paul Pierce, wins 3-point competition he had to lobby for to get into and then I have to listen to Reggie Miller talkin’ about how he could have done better in the dunk contest — and sadly, I didn’t doubt him. I was looking for something sick from DeRozan and he just didn’t bring it. Disappointing.

easily worst dunk contest ever

by mannie32 on Feb 14, 2010 12:01 AM EST reply actions

Wow, that was horrible. They gotta fix the dunk contest. Missed dunks just kill it.

And what was with Shannon Brown and Gerald Wallace? Especially from Brown … I was expecting way more.

That was turrrible.

Looks like the D-League and Streetball were head and shoulders better than this year’s NBA Slam Dunk competition.

Those videos were awesome! Thanks! I love how excited the dunkers get after they throw down a good slam. Shannon Brown and Gerald Wallace looked half asleep out there.
