Jason Maxiell's Wife had Ovarian Cancer

HEARTWARMING STORY: E! Entertainment Television aired its 'E! True Hollywood Story: Basketball Wives' documentary during All-Star weekend, and the Brandi and Jason Maxiell segment tugged at the heart. The Pistons forward dated Brandi through high school and college. She was at North Texas, and he went to Cincinnati. Eighteen months after Maxiell was drafted by the Pistons in 2005, they got engaged. While planning the wedding, the two found out Brandi had ovarian cancer. In the fall of 2007, she went to Dallas to start chemotherapy. She lost her hair during treatment, and as a sign of support for the woman he loved, Maxiell shaved his head. "I felt like I was trapped in someone else's body," Brandi said of the hair loss during the interview. "When you lose your hair, you are a cancer patient, and we all look alike whether you are black or white. "Jason had a game the next night on TV, and his head was completely bald." After four cycles of chemo, doctors told Brandi her cancer was in remission. "I love her to death, and I always will," Maxiell said. Woah. I never realized this. Could this explain some of Maxiell's "inconsistent" play over the last year? I know I might have trouble concentrating if my wife was battling cancer.
