"Maxiell has reached double figures in points and rebounds in each of his past five games and is averaging a double-double -- 10.9 points and 11.2 rebounds -- in the eight games since starting center Ben Wallace went down with a knee injury."

Sure, Maxy is getting a lot of rebounds...

But Curry knew he could never lead the league in bebounds.

I love watching him. I forget where I read this, but Maxiell’s been described as having “bad intentions” when he goes to the rim. I always liked that description.

Reliable & consistent

Maxi’s been reliable and consistent; two knocks on him previous to this year. I’d say we have to move him into the “Bright Spots” for this year’s team along with the Benassaince, and The Swedish Eagle.

He’s earnin’ that contract now.

Only if he finishes the season like this

If Max finishes the season averaging a double double, then sure. But he has to maintain this level of play going forward.

I take full credit for Maxiell's recent success

On February 16th, I posted why Maxiell’s contract blew chunks based on his output in comparison to other undersized PFs who were averaging less than 25 minutes per game (http://www.detroitbadboys.com/2010/2/16/1313356/bill-simmons-25-worst-contracts).

Since February 16, Maxiell is averaging 9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53.1% from the field. Compare that with his season averages of 6 points and 4 rebounds per game and we see a 33% lift in points and a 100% lift in rebounds per game. Obviously this is because he read my post about his potential incapability to produce the numbers that his contract warrants and so he’s done something to change that.

Everyone can thank me in the form of paypal donations and/or best buy gift cards. Just send the gift cards to “TheBoourns, Seattle, WA 98102” it should get to me just fine.

In actuality, I think this is really just about him getting consistent minutes. On the season, he’s averaging under 20 minutes per game but in the past 16 he’s averaging over 28 minutes per game…33% lift in minutes per game and we see a 33% lift in points. not too surprising really. But I’ll still take all the credit thanks.

This was my one chance to shine and you just had to try and steal my credit. whatever man, whatever. So uncool…

all last year

most DBBers were calling for more and consistent minutes for Maxiell, and suggested that the yoyo minutes MCIAFI was giving him were pulling his numbers into the basement. If anyone is gonna take credit, it should be DBB in general— we’ve always wanted the kind of burn Maxey’s getting now, and now that he has it we are all vindicated and share the credit.

But I do credit Boourns for setting off this recent run :)

oh yeah...I just like taking credit for things I had little to no part influencing

Like that time I saved President Theodore Roosevelt after his attempted assassination or my invention of the internet. I mean both are important in history but ultimately they wouldn’t have happened without me, ya know?

It's great to see Maxiell doing well

Otherwise that autographed jersey I got for my birthday wasn’t going to be very impressive.

Seriously though, I can see Maxy as a starter at PF if we get a center who can score in the draft. He can hit the occasional jumper and attack the rim, though his offensive game is still quite limited. His real strengths are his rebounding and defense in the low post. He isn’t tall but he has the bulk and strength to guard many of the centers out there, which gives Detroit flexibility on the defensive end and would prove very valuable if we have a rookie center who isn’t ready to guard a pro center.

Maxy’s supposedly terrible contract (eat shit Bill Simmons!) is starting to look really good right now. $5 mil a year for a starting big man who can average a double double and play good defense? That’s a bargain.

OT: I’m in the Caribbean right now. The other day while exploring St. Lucia, I saw a dude walking down a hill with a Ben Wallace jersey on. Respect.

Guess I may as well post this in here

ESPN is reporting that the Pistons expect Rodney to play tonight. Link

Good news, as it seems the doctors are satisfied that Rodney’s health is no longer at risk. I wonder if Q will start him or work him back into the lineup gradually.

Yeah it was

I didn’t see the other post about it, so the story I found just seems to confirm Rodney will play tonight.
