Smokescreen?
Please?
My two favorite teams are the Tigers and Brewers. Drunk tigers. That sounds about right.

You can choose to believe it
but agreed, I’ve seen enough swerves that I’m gonna wait until shit actually pops off.

He tried to move up.
But it turns out other teams want assets.

Thank god
At least I leave my hope with no hope at all. Tonight when I come back I won’t be expecting any pleasant surprises sans the massive MP rant that will make even grown men cry.
Where in the world is Trent Plaisted?
my hope is for a
pick and trade now. or that this is a smokescreen.
BTW – sources are saying Nets are back on the Favors train.

So we have a 1 in 15 shot it involves the Pistons?
So you’re saying we have a chance!

I seem to remember that working out well for the Pistons.

Magic trying to package No. 29 with Carter
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16562
Scroll towards the bottom.
How about Rip and Tay for Carter/Gortat/No. 29
Vince is useless but has a $17 mil expiring. Gortat could still be quite useful, especially if we end up with Monroe.
We also get out of Rip’s contract.
The Magic are short on shooting guards.
then we would get to read about how vince carter really wants to bring a championship to detroit and joe would go on and on about how he didnt just bring vc here for his expiring.
Keith Langlois could write it.

that would be interesting
If they make that trade, then they could ship Vince over to Minnesota in exchange for Al Jefferson (no picks included)

Look, if the Pistons can’t move up, then I say they try to move down and get Aldrich. If another second round pick can come out of the deal, then it’s worth it (provided Jod doesn’t waste the pick on someone with narcolepsy.
But Seriously.....FUCK!
That can’t be right. If we start the season with the roster that we have now plus a #7 pick that’s not Coz, I’m going to have to find something to do with all my free time.
Joe D is an idiot
Good luck with Al Aminu. What could go wrong with a team filled entirely with wing players?
Wait, whats that? Everything can go wrong and you can suck for the next 5 years? Wow, that does sound pretty stupid now.
Come on, if we're going to bitch, do it properly.
It’s not Aminu.
It’s Ed Davis.

QUIT BITCHING
The only way the Pistons could trade up was if the Nets were serious about taking Wes Johnson. Then, Minny would move down to take Aminu because they’re not looking for a big man.
Dumars could have offered Jonas Jerebko and the Pistons next three first round picks and they wouldn’t have been able to move up.
OR, AT LEAST, BITCH ABOUT NOT MOVING DOWN

Theres always a way to move up
I’d give up half the team to get Cousins. I’d rather they build around him than literally anyone on the current roster, and if he flames out they’d at least have a shot at a good pick somewhere in the near future, instead of being in basketball limbo, watching them trying to play with a team consisting of Stuckey, Gordon, and 10 6’8" beanpoles.
HEY! Those beanpoles can play multiple positions.
In this league (aka the one the Dumars lives in) players aren’t being pigeon holed into just one position. They’re tweeners. Right now, our team is tween mediocre and really f’n horrible.
Show me a trade that the Kings, TWolves, Nets or Sixers would ACTUALLY do.
(not one you want them to do)
by Quick Darshan on Jun 24, 2010 4:24 PM EDT up reply actions
Maybe this? Minny swaps picks, gets a good vet SF, a solid project SF, and still has a top 10 pick (we could also throw in our 2nd rounder if necessary).
I wouldn't throw in Daye
out of that group, only Sessions interests me and Prince showed that he has a lot left in the tank once he finally returned from all injuries. Perhaps Summers if they really want another player, but Daye holds way too much potential to just give him away for Ramon – who could very well be had for just cash if Rubio returns
by bearded thundar on Jun 24, 2010 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions
i guess there is no trades that any of those teams would do. they dont want veterans on ridiculous contracts, mediocre players on ridiculous contracts or young high bust potential players. so i guess joe’s hands were tied in regards to making a trade. he tied them of course but QD is right that none of those teams would make a deal with us.
what about after the draft
Teams have traded picks after the draft because they didn’t get the guy they wanted and took the best player available.
It wouldn’t shock me if NJ takes Johnson and then Minnesota takes Cousins with the sole purpose of trading him for an all star wing after the draft. I doubt we could sell the Hamilton, but perhaps they could be tempted with Gordon or Stuckey
by bearded thundar on Jun 24, 2010 4:18 PM EDT reply actions
Well, the latest reports say New Jersey is going to take Favors because he could fill a need if they strike out on Boozer and he is a better trade prospect than Johnson. With the crazy free agency, I think it’s very possible some picks are moved later this summer.
It might be tough to sell Stuckey as an “all star wing”, though.
If I'm Brooklyn...
I draft Favors.
Make a strong pitch to Lebron (you can be the reason for the biggest turnaround in NBA history and you’ll have 3 young studs to form a dynasty with).
Failing that, go after Rudy Gay.
by Quick Darshan on Jun 24, 2010 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions
I agree
But everything I’m reading is that they want to win now and are going after Boozer. That’s why they were consdering Johnson. Is still think it makes much more sense to take Favors. They can either trade him or let him come along slowly as a back up and get rid of Yi.
C'mon guys
Don’t tell me you wouldn’t want this guy. Look at this suit. He’s long. He’s definitely smooth in that oxford. And with that smile on his face, maybe he wants to stroke it.

Washington is getting another guard
and Chicago is going to go hard after Lebron…
Chicago is trading Hinrich and the No. 17 to Washington for nothing. It won’t be final until July 8 when Washington has the cap space to take Hinrich.
Why is Washinton blowing it’s cap space on Hinrich. They must be really excited about the No. 17 pick.
They’re getting very close to being able to get Lebron and Bosh. They might have enough for two max contracts now.
they aren't getting LeBron
LeBron’s ego is too big to be second banana, even behind MJ. Unless if he wins 4 straight titles, Jordan will always be head honcho in that city
by bearded thundar on Jun 24, 2010 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions
I can't believe they got someone to take that contract
Hinrich was one of the worst starting guards in the league last year. I’d have more confidence in Nick Young as a starter — and I have no confidence in him AT ALL.
"Wait a minute! That's insane! They're total liars. I kept my mouth shut when Dean said he could read Sanskrit, and when Hank said he wanted a piece of him, I was like 'Fine. Whatever.', but Mecha-Shiva? No way! They are so lying, I'm innocent!"

they probably want him to start at SG
I doubt they trust Young to play 40 minutes a game while Gilbert is out
by bearded thundar on Jun 24, 2010 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Wall/Hinrich/Arenas
and I thought the Pistons had too much money tied up in guards.
they should have voided his contract
it makes no sense that they kept him. Perhaps they felt they had burned too much money already to get nothing out of him

Did anyone take a peek
at Dan Feldman’s trade idea? http://www.pistonpowered.com/2010/06/quick-trade-idea-about-moving-up-to-no-3-to-demarcus-cousins/ Thoughts? I’d go for it.
I would do this in a heartbeat
If Harris can return to, at the very least, his Dallas form (which he totally can), his contract is very reasonable. Plus we get Cousins or Favors, and get rid of Maxiell’s terrible contract!

There's no way NJ does that
What’s in it for them besides a little more cap space? Devin Harris is a way , WAY better PG than Stuckey. And, Max is over paid.
If I'm Brooklyn I keep Harris and Favors over Stuckey, Maxiell and 7th
by Quick Darshan on Jun 24, 2010 5:42 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah...unless we can offer them more cap relief than that...
more cap room for them to go after Lebron + another close to max contract?
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
This season
Harris was way, WAY the same as Stuckey. Harris was turrible this last season, one of few guards actually less efficient than Stuckey.
Uh, me, new?
0% chance.
Wasn’t Harris + 3 close to enough for CP3? Stuckey+Maxiell+7th is no where near that.

Parker for Rip????
How about a Tony Parker for Rip trade? It works out mathematically.
Parker/Bynum
Stuckey/Gordon
Prince/Daye
Jerebko/Maxiell
Wallace/Monroe
What about for San Antonio?
They just signed Manu to his own extension. Two 30+ year old shooting guards making $10+ million a season? Doesn’t sound like it passes the scientific challenge.

Bad deal for Indy, but their strategies have been questionable in almost every way for awhile now.

The reason it's hard for Detroit to make trades now...
…is because Detroit is trying to give salary and everyone right now is trying to shed salary.
Later in the summer, it should be easier to make a trade if there are more teams with cap space then players worth said cap space. That’s the best time to try to trade Rip.
So, serious question here:
Do we just not worry about grabbing a big now and focus on getting the best player possible….even if it is another SF?
