I'm conflicted
I still love Rasheed, but do I want him to win another ring with the enemy?
Also, I love Rondo’s play, but any team with Brian Scalabrine on it needs to die. Does Brian Scalabrine cancel out Jordan Farmar? Can a douche really cancel out a douche?
I remain conflicted. Go Lakers? I don’t know.
Uh, me, new?
If Xenu magicks can get you Kelly Preston, that scientology thing might be on to something…..

i dont understand why jackson and doc arent giving the fans the morrison vs scalabrine matchup they have all been dreaming about.
wouldn't it be awesome
to see those two together on an early 2000’s dating show with all those retarded captions?

speaking of douchery
it’s amazing what a haircut can do. Shannon Brown was an absolute douche when he had braids, now— not so much. He’s now douche free. Not cool what he did to Rihanna though…

It’s interesting what the NBA or ABC or ESPN or who ever chooses as their narrative for the story. Suddenly Kobe is this great student of the game, studying film and analyzing player movements as a 14-year old. He’s been in the league for like 13 years now and they’re kind of pulling this out of no where, aren’t they?
i was thinking about this as well. ive been reading a lot about early kobe and the narratives nowadays seem to ignore that he was a huge prick up until about a year ago, some would say he still is.
Yeah, he’s really kind of an enigma, but I think he likes it that way. It seems like there’s always something new to say about him, though. I guess hearing about Kobe studying game tapes is better than watching Rip wear a Darth Vader mask for the second or third time.

im reading the book the last season by phil jackson. it has lots of shit about how arrogant kobe was back then. pretty interesting stuff. i like kobe in his “student of the game” era.
I’ve had that book on my shelf since it came out but haven’t bothered to read it. I should get around to it while the Lakers are really relevant right now.
by garrettelliott on Jun 3, 2010 10:58 PM EDT up reply actions
its a pretty quick read and pretty interesting if you dont really know what was going on with the lakers in 2004. i skipped ahead to the part where they play the pistons in the finals just to check that out and then started back at the beginning. i like it so far.
Nice. I’m 3/4 of the way through No Country For Old Men so I think I’ll finally read that Lakers book next.

Kobe went on a TEAR a few years ago where he was dunking everything on everyone. It was awesome. Now he’s a bit creaky and settles for jumpers, but I like the Kobe slam dunk shots.

Me too, dude's an all time dunker for sure

Me too.
I <3 the Lakers when I don’t have a good Pistons team to root for in the Playoffs. And Kobe is probably my favorite player to watch of all time, although peak era T-Mac was, to me, the definition of pretty basketball. Durant is making a run at that title though. He’ll probably own it come next playoffs.
Respect the Kobe game, and always point to him before Lebron as "Greatest current"
..even before Lebron’s spectacular fail this post season.. Respect the hell out Kobe’s game, but I hate me some lakers.. Celtics all the way, and it feel so wrong

Earlier in the year he took $100 from each guy and hid it in the ceiling of the locker room. He said the only way they were getting their money back is if they made it back to the finals and it was actually still there.

JVG also took a shot at Scalibrini
Saying if they didn’t get back to the finals he would go snag it during the summer. Funny thing was Marc Jackson and that other guy didn’t bother to correct him.

It's obvious that the Lakers/Celtics history made this such an interesting game.
If it was some other teams, obviously it would have been quite boring. But this is Celtics/Lakers! Such excitement.

His jaw displacement all of this post season has been most frightening.
I tried to do it, putting my lower teeth in front of my lower teeth. It is quite painful.

It's so hard to try to root for one of these teams
I settled on Boston on some “eastern conference pride + I’m trying to feel good about ’Sheed” theory, but they are making it hard to root for them. Kobe clearly the best player on the floor last night, Gasol #2. I wonder how much of Boston’s problem was Ray Allen’s foul trouble.
I used up all the fuel in my rooting-for-Boston tank in the Cleveland series.
Go Lakers.

There's a great Rasheed clip on SportsCenter today
Check out #5 here:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5250977&categoryid=2378529
Rasheed flying-side-kicks his way out of the locker room, then performs a series of karate moves while crying, “Judo chop! Judo chop! Judo chop!” Then the next dude out of the locker room very calmly pounds fans’ hands in his wake, in hilarious contrast.
God do I love and miss Rasheed. He’s the best.

Rec'd for the great 'Sheed link
I thought he played pretty well in the first half and I actually told my wife he should play more minutes in the second. . . . .
He’s like the Tracy Jordan of the NBA.

sheed
is the only reason i watched basketball the last couple of weeks. he is on fire. he smothered gasol. doc should really consider giving him more minutes. too bad sheed lost his temper when he realized he was alone on the floor. but that is sheed. he is really a good defender. it seems like that is overlooked sometimes. watching him last night playing one on five defense was something else.

A Pau Gasol fan breaks down game 1 for the big fella:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V_U8-_sTI8
Gasol is soft in the sense that he probably won’t get in a fight with you, but he’s really good at basketball so it probably doesn’t matter anyways how tough he is.
awesome link, Garrett. Gasol and Rondo are two of my favorite players, and while I respect Kobe I really don’t like anyone else in these finals (Odom and Sheed excluded). It’s amazing what Gasol has accomplished in these playoffs, dude better get himself that Finals MVP trophy.
Uh, me, new?
Strangely enough, I didn’t really like Gasol until I heard him doing some interviews and commentating, talking about the game. He’s so smart and knows the players and the game inside-out. Once I heard that I had a whole new respect for him and his finesse game.
Also, this photo is awesome:

but no sheed clips. i guess the pau fan was not interested in that part of the game for some reason.
