Nice!
Thanks for putting it together! I had to mute it though :p
agreed
video was very good, song made my ears bleed.
Modern rap really should not be used when making these kinds of video mixes, unless if you were to play this song for a Jason Maxiell mix.

there's still some good modern rap out there
like kid cudi, some of drake’s music, nas and damian marley came out with a great record this year…
so let’s not let soulja boi define modern rap pls haha
Drake: “I’ve been dreamin’ about hoes and doin’ them live shows shirtless— that’s why I started to personal train.”
DOOM: “Shut up. To all rappers shut up, and while you shuttin’ up put a shirt on or at least a button up. Yuck. Is they rhymers or strippin’ males? out of work jerks since they shut down Chippendales.”

Wow, we look unstoppable in that video! That must have taken hours upon hours of editing to mix together. Thanks!

A suggestion
If you want a recently-released amp track for a mix video, I can’t think of anything better than Big Boi’s “General Patton”. And I don’t even like amp tracks.

Some? Shit, everything thing he says on that album is awesome. Even that bizarre Pac Man noise he makes at the beginning of “Return of the G” before he starts tearing shit up.

I just went into a giddy amount of Andre 3000 praise
I’ve just got into Outkast in a big way, so I had to get all hyperbolic.

ATLiens has my favorite beat of all time
The song. Not the album, which is really good, but “Aquemini” might be my favorite hip hop album. There’s only like, what, two or three skippable songs on “Aquemini”? And the songs that aren’t ones you skip are genius.
“Da Art of Storytellin Part Two?” Possibly one of the five most epic things ever recorded. The Hawks should come out to that shit.

terrible music… soulja boi and that other guy? really?
haha but yes good job with the video need4detroit.
My sentiments are contrary to the collective opinion.
The video sucked major ass, but the song was big boobies.

Glad to see that as hard as it is to come to a consensus on basketball decisions or player potential, we can at least agree that rap music is in a sad, sad place right now.

I’ve got a theory on this: I think the people who typically are considered to have good taste, people that read music mags looking for good new music, are listening to shit like Lil’ Wayne (who has skills, but absolutely no substance) and Drake (fuck, from what I’ve heard, he has neither) because Rolling Stone and Pitchfork have to come up with story lines to keep the traffic going (“Is Lil’ Wayne really the greatest rapper in the game?” The answer to this question is that if that’s how you pronounce Ghostface Killah, then yes, yes he is), they’re promoting bullshit heavily that is, well, bullshit. Lil Wayne is almost tailor made for those publications: he’s a codeine addict that raps like he’s got a frog in his throat with a ton of tattoos that raps about being addicted to codeine and says a bunch of shit that doesn’t make sense; all while being addicted to drank, being in prison, and doing this constantly. And you can even see that with Drake: Degrassi star drops big mixtape, and he’s got skills apparently (I’d disagree with that sentiment).
The perplexing thing is that guys like Ghost, Doom, and Big Boi get great reviews; but don’t really have a story to sell behind them other than pure skills and the fact that two of them are just bizarre guys. So that means that Rolling Stone and Pitchfork are having lapses into taste or Ghostface is really that good. Personally, Wu-Tang Clan changed my musical life and Ghostface is my favorite rapper of all time (of course, I’ve been listening to hip hop heavily for about 1 1/2 years, so this is subject to change), but if I’m willing to point a finger in the direction of the Cash Money crew; then I’ve got to attempt to look at my guys I’m a Stan of too. But then again, I think Animal Collective and The Decembrists suck, so maybe I just don’t agree with Rolling Stone and Pitchfork.

As a publisher by trade, in that I make my living running a magazine, I can wholly confirm this statement. The larger a publication gets, the riskier it is to question the status quo. Also, the larger a publication gets, the smaller the reward to taking such a risk. In most cases, the game becomes “write about the story” not “make the story”. This is where a magazine becomes an assembly line machine where the news drives the editorial.
I like magazines where the editorial drives the news.

Personally...
I think music in general is on a down slope. At least the popular stuff. I’m more of a hard rock/metal fan when it comes to music and I flip on my local rock radio station and I get saddened by what I hear because everything is just basic. Metal is not a difficult genre to play. It’s very rhythmic much like rap/hip hop. The difficulty for both genre’s comes in giving the rhythm substance. Nobody does the little things anymore. A bit of vocal harmony. Maybe a lead part. When’s the last time you heard an epic guitar solo from a new band? The things exist to give a song life beyond it’s core elements.
Listen to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpfPpxjEhb8
It’s Devin Townsend. Comparatively to similar music I find his stuff to be genius especially amongst today’s selection of artists. Female vocalist, instrumentation beyond rhythm and vocal’s. You leave this song full because if this track had nutrition facts, it would have plenty of dietary fiber.

Eminem is the best. imo
I can’t wait to go to the Jay-Z & Eminem show.
The Miami Heat are a bunch of Bandwagon Ass Cats !
was the best
I think his new album is garbage compared to his older ones. It has a few nice songs, but they are so overplayed by radio and sports teams that I don’t bother to listen to them. IMO, he peaked with the Eminem Show album, which had like 10 epic songs in it. Encore was very good, but not nearly as hardcore. Relapse was….well I found some of it to be funny?

You mean, Eminem wasn’t putting out comedy albums?
Two trailer park girls go ‘round the outside…
Chris Kirkpatrick!
Mom’s spaghetti.
But he was oh, so dark and brooding.
I think his new album is great.
He sounds like he used to before he got bored with rap and deep into drugs. No matter who’s rapping with him he always has the best part on the track regardless who’s album it is . imo.
One thing I don’t like about the new shit is he tries to sing too much and the song with Pink sucks.
The Miami Heat are a bunch of Bandwagon Ass Cats !
meh
I found his new album dull and outplayed. It’s apparent that he’s running out of things to rap about; you can only make fun of your mom for so long before people get tired of it. The album does have a few good songs, however the radio overplays them so much that I don’t want to even hear 10 seconds of them anymore

i listened to the radio for like 5 mins the other day.
and i heard that new “california girls” song and it made me quickly remember why i dont listen to music on the radio.
And Snoop Dogg is on it?
Does selling out even exist as a concept when it comes to Snoop Dogg?
