PLAN: How the Pistons can return to glory. (REVISED)
1. The Raptors sign-and-trade Chris Bosh, sending him to Cleveland in exchange for Anderson Varejao and Delonte West. Chris Bosh goes to Miami. Not important!
2a. Detroit trades Chunky Charlie (a.k.a. the poor man's Chris Bosh a younger Antawn Jamison) to Toronto Cleveland. In return, the Pistons acquire Varejao.
2b. The addition of Chunky Charlie weakens the Cavs, making the Pistons the favorite to win the Central Division.
3. Varejao and Greg Monroe combine to form a fearsome frontcourt duo.
4. Kriz's love inspires Jonas Jerebko to become the greatest basketball player ever.
5. Also, several other really good players join the Pistons.
6. RETURN TO GLORY!

I would honestly join my brother as a Mavs fan if we got Varejao (my brother has loved Nowitzki since his rookie season. My brother went to a Mavs-Pistons game and there you have it). I cannot stand his style (or lackthereof) of play.
Though his knocks on Lebron’s God Complex are infinitely amusing.
seriously?
A front court of Varejao and Monroe would actually be very solid IME…
He’s getting paid equivalent to CV over the next 4 years so if he maintains his current production on offense and defense he woudl prove to be a good compliment to Monroe.
Between Varejao and Jonas, we’d have some impressive offensive rebounding capabilities and you cannot deny that Varejao is a solid on the ball and help defender. His D rating was 102 and his O rating was 123. His true shooting % was just a hair under 60% and average 8 and 8 in 28 minutes a game.
If Lebron leaves, we could offer them Maxiell and Wilcox for Varejao which would give them both financial flexibility and trade chips. If we did this trade early on they could even look at flipping Wilcox’s expiring before the trade deadline or the same with Maxiell.
He and Maxiell are pretty close as far as per 36 numbers but Varejao has a higher PER, higher TS%, lower usage %, fouls less, and is obviously a thicker, bigger defender who could actually body up against the Howard’s and Bosh’s of the world. And of course there is all the intangible grit he brings.
I hate him on the Cavs but I’d be a huge fan of Varejao on the Pistons. He pretty much encompasses exactly what we want out of a center.

Yeah, but he’s gotta lose the sideshow bob hairdo.
That'd be sweet
He just shows up day one with a buzzed to the scalp shaved head. I bet he’s got a ridiculous dome though. And the hair helps him draw fouls.

I especially like the part about singing other really good players. I’m excited for this plan to come to fruition!
Me too. I bet Art has a lovely voice.

The basketball gods like this plan
Well, there was the bit that you missed where I distracted him with the cuddly monkey then I said "play time's over" and I hit him in the head with the peace lily.
Just looked at 2b. If the Cavs lose out on Lebron and we weaken them with CV, we still won’t be the favorites. If Lebron leaves the Central, we still won’t be the favorites. I hate to say it, but the Bucks have to be looked at as that favorites depending on what Lebron does.
No, I agree that he was. I just felt the need to point out that the Bucks would have been close to the Cavs last year if they hadn’t had injury problems. Now they’ll have Salmons all season as well as Maggette and Gooden. Not to mention a (hopefully) more mature Jennings and healthy Bogut. That team went from nothing to division contenders in the matter of 6 months.

Varejao should be included in this discussion...
I would take him and his 4 remaining over Dampier and Ilgauskas for sure. Probably over Haywood too given AV is 27 and his contract would expire at 31…perfect time to shed the contract or re-sign for less.

Oh and the only reason I thikn Varejao is worth discussing is due to the possibility of Lebron leaving
If Lebron leaves, the Cavs are going to be looking to acquire more players, financial freedom, and trade chips. We can offer some combination of those given the extra 2nd rounders we have, the modest contract of Maxiell, and the expiring contracts of Tay and Wontcox.

Sounds good to me
I have always hated Varejao he is a character but i think i’d rather have his antic for us than against us.
my sentiments exactly.

When you say it like that...
I still don’t think I could stand him in a Pistons uniform. He flops like no other.

So? In today's NBA, that is an art that every team would want assuming they can't have Art himself.

I hate flopping with a passion, but the refs call it and perpetuate the need to flop. Sometimes I’m pretty sure the refs wouldn’t make certain calls if there was no flop, so the guys who do it get rewarded. I thought Stern was going to start fining guys a year or two ago?

I think Lebron stays in CLE, signs 2-yr deal
No Bosh (he’s going to Miami I bet) so CLE retains Varejao.
Varejao continues to fight/flop alongside LBJ until 2012 when the Nets move to BKLYN , redesign their unis/relaunch just for James (just like the cavs did) and he dominates the free agent season yet another time in the near future.

I don't see Cavs parting with Varejao
He’s really the best rebounding & defending big they have, with Shaq and Ilgauskas (sp?) way past their prime. Unless they got another big they liked better, they’d be idiots to lose him in my humble opinion. Otherwise I’d like to have him – he’s a better value and more Piston-like than Charlie V has shown himself to be thus far.
yeah but if bron leaves they are in full on rebuilding mode and his contract might be too large for a middling team like the cavs will be.
That’s what I’m hoping for, a rebuilding Cavs team willing to trade for Chunky Charlie (who could use a little rebuilding himself).
Speaking of CV’s rebuilding, check out the videos at Pistons.com — he talks a bit about his workouts and there’s footage of him getting totally buff.

I'll put all my effort in showing Jonas the ways of true love.
Does anybody have some vaseline? He’s new to this.
