Even in NBA JAM, Pistons lack interior D
EA sports has somehow purchased the rights to NBA JAM from Midway and is releasing a new version with current NBA players. Stuckey, Gordon, Villanueva, and Hamilton represent the Pistons, and yes the lack of Ben Wallace is appaling. People were allowed to vote on these, but I guess there isn't much love for post-'fro Ben. Screen shot...
via a.espncdn.com
The lack of Ben on the team may be what is leading to Dennis Rodman dominating the current Piston squad in the screen shot above. Rodman, of course, is not currently on the roster, but each team has two legends, many of which were the pair in the original NBA JAM game. Yes, Isiah and Bill Laimbeer suit up for the home team, and I imagine it should be amazing. If you want to hear more, some guy from ESPN wrote some stuff here... and there is a trailer for the game below.

Well played Tads
Wonder if they’re bringing back the arcade machines, too? Sad to say the current stones would probably be one of the least fun teams to play as. See what you’ve done JOD???? I don’t even want to play our team in a video game.
Cursed EA
I own a Wii, but I primarily play Xbox. To my knowledge, the way to get this game on Xbox is to purchase NBA Elite 11, which I simply will not do as long as 2k is around and dominant.
Love the Zeke / Laimbeer pairing. But I’d rather have JJ and Ben Wallace than Gordon and CV. Maybe they’ll be beastly, though, because of their 3pt shooting ability.
You could always try to purchase Elite, and attempt a return after having already redeemed the NBA Jam token
deceitful and dishonest, but probably worth it. And come on, the change from NBA LIVE to NBA Elite clearly indicates it will be the better game of the two :-)
In other news, I’ve almost played through an entire 82 game season of the myplayer feature…I’m the leading scorer for the T’Wolves. They also traded away all their other shooting guards for bigs (front line now consists of Kurt Thomas, Al Jefferson, Darko, Kevin Love, Andris Biedrins, and Nathan Jawai)

I hope My Player is better this season
I thought it would be awesome … but it was just a grind. Just epinion.
Yeah agreed...
Of course the best experience I can imagine would be the ability toe export myplayer from 2K10 directly into 2K11 and maybe add a year to his age in doing so while staying with the team that you’re on when you export.
Not really sure how they could make it different though…maybe make it more in-depth by incorporating sponsorships, agent hiring, etc. but the fact that you have to play in all 82 games to even get to the end of your first season…seems like odds aren’t good that very many people made it through the first season let alone multiple.
My guy is at 60 overall though right now, still haven’t played any pick up ball but I’m right around top 30,000 ranking all-up at this point. Of course I didn’t even realize there were different options to add points to besides offensive skill sets until after about 30 or 40 games.
Whats your gamertag btw? I’ll be getting 2K11 on day one so we could join up for some epic balling experiences.

I think I might agree
2k10 on pro has some of the hardest defensive play I’ve ever seen. You’re talking to a guy that has some straight up war stories on 2k9 for the PS2 (lets put it this way: I was like Joe Dumars mixed with Don Corleone GMwise, and one game, I held a team with Lebron James and Rip Hamilton to 26% shooting on the Superstar difficulty) and I can’t do crap on NBA 2K10. Its still fun but not as much as 2k9 was. I did also switch systems though.

Never played 2K9...I played 2K6 for the 360 for a bit...but only for the achievements
Season Play > Simulate > Results in unlocking most of the achievements.
As for 2K10, I enjoy it, but I definitely don’t play on anything above the “normal” difficulty which I think is Pro.
And even then I ended up fucking with the game sliders because I found it impossible to hit any jumpshots even with the best in the game. The vast majority of my gametime (like tonight) has been spent playing the MyPlayer feature which I really wish they’d either expand or do something to make it less of a grind.

I'm down to play 2k11 sometime Boourns.
gamertag = xXBillyRudexX
The Miami Heat are a bunch of Bandwagon Ass Cats !
Not really sure how they could make it different though
Two ideas: First, make players not suck so incredibly when you first create them. Honestly, they can barely dribble the ball in game when you first create one. Second, have the progression from 60 overall to 70 overall be more rapid, slowing after 70. At 70 overall, a player can actually compete, but below that, it’s an enormous struggle.
Okay, third idea. My first time through, I was a real try hard and worked in training camp to meet all the objectives in each scrimmage/summer league game. As a result, I got picked up by my team … which was awful. I was like a 49 overall trying to play in NBA games. It was impossible to reach my objectives and hence impossible to progress. I had to delete, start over, and intentionally botch summer league so I could get in the D League.
I don’t think you should get into the NBA until you’re at least a 60 overall.
Interesting...I'm a 60 overall
And have played 50+ games in the NBA at this point (got invited to training camp but didn’t make the cut for the Pistons at SG…surprise surprise!) and am averaging 16.5/3 boards/2.5 assists per game. But my game is athletic with my dunking and layups at 77, and my mid-range/shooting off the dribble at 87…my vertical is maxed out at 99 :-)

haha...my passing is 40 and my offensive awareness is shitty too
So you may be on to something here…although I am in no way a combo guard.

Clear sign of a failing franchise..
After over a decade calling it one thing subtly change the name of it hoping no one will notice.

I have a 1990 NBA JAM 4-player machine in my living room.
Zeke and Laimbeer are repping the D on their magnificent magnum opus as well. Seems only right.
The announcer from the original is also back for the 2010 version.
Ben Gordon and Rodney Stuckey are the only current players though? Interesting Choice. I’d even say controversial, but alas, those cursed Kings hath claimethed Demarcus as their own.

The voting happened a while ago
I think I voted for Rip, Stuckey, and Ben but don’t remember for certain.

Whoa! You have an NBA Jam machine in your living room? That’s awesome. I now picture your house being like the mansion on Silver Spoons, complete with awesome arcade machines and gigantic train running through the room.

I'm still pissed at NBC for stealing my year-round Christmas Train idea!

Re-reading this, it comes off as facetious – seriously, having an arcade NBA Jam in your living room is amazing. And as I recall aren’t you married? How in the world would you sell your wife on that decor?
it must involve a man cave. MUST!

No I'm unmarried. We just were talking about it. She's gone now though.
but yo Onions and The Boo-Runs, you guys can come over any damn time, just don’t use the Bulls

No Bulls for this veggie
Since the Pistons sucked on NBA Jam TE, I always played as the Spurs. I’d be Rodman and focus on rebounds, blocked, and kicked asses.
Sure they rule in that game.

NBA Jam
I remember playing that game on my Nintendo 64, I completely forgot about it until just now.

NBA Jam 64
Was one of the biggest pieces of shit games ever made. Bill Walton did color on that game and the stuff that came out of his mouth was unbelievable. The only cool thing it did was have you advance each year and actually draft rookies, I think it was one of the first sports games to do that.
All the time relaxed.
