Summers out of deal, White in
According to an AP article posted at the FREEP about the pending Carmello trade, Terrico White would be included in the deal, not Dajuan Summers.
I'm sure we can all take this with a grain of salt, but somebody told someone at some point that White was part of the deal, not Summers.

Good.
We will be needing Summers when the ECF come around.

blargh
I actually really like White as a prospect. It would be nice to see him play a few games before using him to get rid of Rip (not to mention there’s no room for DaJuan regardless of the trade, if we keep White he could play back up pg 5-10 minutes per game)

Agreed
Some sources thought White to be a “steal”. He’s big for a guard and athletic and seemed to look better than advertised in summer league.
Not that I know anything, but my gut feeling is that giving White away as an afterthought isn’t something I’d like to see happen.

son
His potential is even higher than John Wall’s when it comes to everything but the game of basketball, White should have been the #1 overall pick according to beardedthunderexpress.org

So wait
now we’re trading the next Chris Paul instead of Dajuan Summers? (or was it the next Derrick Rose? I don’t remember)
MFDLN!!

Fixed.
It's true, I'm a rageaholic. I just can't live without rageahol!
Especially considering I proved statistically that Jonas is the next Dirk, not Summers.
Summers is the next Lebron. He’s long, he’s smooth, and he’s a 6’8" 240 lb SF. I don’t think I need to continue explaining why Summers is the next Lebron.

Pfft
Tell LeBron to get a jumper if he ever wants to be able to hold the jock of The Incomparable DaJuan Summers, who is currently shooting 63 percent from behind the arc. That percentage, of course, will only go up with more playing time.
It's true, I'm a rageaholic. I just can't live without rageahol!
obviously...there is a natural correlation between FG%, 3PT%, and PT.

This is what angers me so
We’ve got the next Dirk, the next Lebron, the next Chris Paul and the next Dwyane Wade on our team RIGHT NOW. Why aren’t we using them properly??????
MFDLN!!
Now how's this for strange.
If When this deal goes through, the Pistons will have exactly two guards under contract after this season: Ben Gordon and Will Bynum. Considering the fact that we’ll only have one SF under contract after this season in Austin Daye, we’ll actually have more big men than wings heading into the offseason (Petro, Villanueva, Maxiell, Wallace, and Monroe).
That’s pretty crazy.

I agree with your sentiments Kriz...
I’d rather be moving a dude who hasn’t done shit for 2 years than a dude who has yet to be defined. Knowing our luck, Terrico White will be the next Sebastian Telfair.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
There's two reasons why I'm OK with moving Terrico White.
1. We absolutely must move Rip’s deal. I know I was opposed to moving this year’s draft pick under any circumstances, but I get the feeling we’re no longer in the running for a top 5 pick barring some real lottery luck. The value the pick is probably going to go down as the season progresses, not that I think we’re going to have some monster second half but I’d say it’s possible we play at or slightly below .500. Right now, we’re lined up for 7th.
2. The second rounder we’ll be receiving in the trade is going to be in the low 30’s if it’s the Jersey pick, which is for all intents and purposes is a first rounder with an unguaranteed contract.
Anything we lose in White is gained in cap relief and the 2nd rounder. It’s more than enough to offset White.

I don't know...I kind of disagree.
The way that the trade has been presented, Rip Hamilton is a straight up swap for Troy Murphy. In order for the Nets to be able to make salaries work with Denver, we absolutely have to take Petro.
The fact that New Jersey was actively looking for someone else to take him shows just how serious they are about shedding his contract. IMHE, if we’re giving up Terrico White, we should be guaranteed a 1st round draft pick back as opposed to the rumors of a 2nd rounder.
Terrico was a legitimate 1st round prospect who slipped to the 2nd round. Summers is a bust of a 2nd round pick. The potential talent disparity between the two is pretty significant.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
There's one reason and one reason only we're in this deal: Leon Rose.
He’s the one pushing them to take Hamilton along with Anthony. If at any point he relents on this, we’re done. New Jersey won’t talk to us because I doubt they really want to make this deal, but are OK with it so long as it guarantees Anthony.
So if this deal goes through, don’t thank Jod or New Jersey or even Denver. Thank Leon Rose and his stubborness.

Agreed. We'd be lucky to get Troy Murphy even with him being excused from the Nets.

In other news, the New Jersey Nets have excused Troy Murphy from the team.
maybe Rip and Troy can meet half way in Western Pennsylvania and hang out with some Quakers.

this kinda makes me optimistic. Here’s to the trade going down tomorrow!
To experience the consequences of my own choices. This is why I live
See I'm the exact opposite
The Pistons benched Hamilton pre-maturely and realistically we could be sitting through another month at least of discomfort or even longer if the Melo trade breaks down and we can’t find anyone else to take Rip.
Troy Murphy has been injured/sick so there has been no reason to bench him unnecessarily. Unless Troy is some negative nancy in the locker room and is fucking with team chemistry, it doesn’t seem necessary to excuse him from team duties unless New Jersey is anticipating a long delay in deal talks.
Half Full/Half Empty I guess :-(
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
I’m taking the opimistic. The Nets now that the deal is close and inevitable Mr. Anderson. Therefore they’ve given leave to Murphy to prepare himself and his family for the upcoming move. And there’s no point in making him practice with the team any longer when he’ll be practicing in a new system just days from now.
Fingers crossed man. Fingers crossed.
To experience the consequences of my own choices. This is why I live
It actually makes me think that New Jersey might be willing to pull the trigger on the Detroit of the deal.
Without Anthony as a way of showing Denver they’re all-in here.
But anyone trying pass this off PLUS Rip’s bench as a mere coincidence is lying to themselves. At the very least, it shows both sides are very optimistic about a trade getting done.

I will forever abhor DMC not being a Piston.

Still playing the pessimist here...
Rip’s benching is a clear cut sign that the Pistons don’t want to risk anything to jeopardize getting out of his contract.
New Jersey wants to get rid of Troy Murphy because he’s a valuable player on a big expiring contract. Just because they’re excusing him doesn’t mean they’re trading him to us.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
Except there hasn't been any other rumor involving Murphy.
I’d understand if Murphy’s name was getting linked to several different players/teams, but I’ve yet to read about any one except him to Detroit for Hamilton. Until I read about him possibly getting traded to somewhere else, I’m going to go with the simplest explanation here.

Whatever gets us out of Rip at this point is a good thing. Playing the odds, White will probably not play in the NBA beyond his rookie contract. Most 2nd rounders don’t.
AND he already has an NBA Championship
The Unofficial NBA Impromptu Rookie Photo Shoot Dunk Contest Championship.
Dude needs a max contract, MEOW!

The Business of Show
Terrico White is exactly the kind of back of the rotation flyer you take a chance on if you are running an NBA franchise. He dunks like a fiend and will be hugely popular with the fans while making very little money. The NBA isn’t pure sports, it’s a sports business.
I would like to see him play for the Pistons. I think most fans would.
I have a good feeling about
White.
But if we have to move him to move rip absolutely do it. But I’d MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH… (So much that much seems to be spelled wrong to my eyes now) rather send Dajuan Summers. I don’t want Petro if we have to trade White….
If the nuggets pull out of the trade...
Do the Nets do it anyways?
Get “something” in return for Murphy, they get a prospect, and they get rid of Petro. Avery Johnson gets a veteran who talk about veteran-ey things like stomach aches and manicurists. Seems like a win win.
Rip files those bad boys to claws himself.
No need for a manicurist.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
My favorite bit from the story:
Asked what was most frustrating about the trade process with the Nuggets, King said: “Everything.”
“It was just, the process was different,” King said. “(The Nuggets) had an ownership takeover, new managment. It was the perfect storm for something to go wrong. … This time, it took a life of its own.”
"Maybe the pigeon mail got lost, I don't know"
He wanted to smile there too.
Jonas, jag älskar dig! Du är vacker.
Bad ass.
It sucks for us, but still entertaining to watch nonetheless. Denver sucks and that’s what they get for stringing this along.

Alright now that New Jersey is out of the way of this deal here's what JoD offers:
Tayshaun Prince
Ben Gordon
Rodney Stuckey
1st Round Draft Pick
DaJuan Summers
Carmelo Anthony
Chauncey Billups
Aaron Afflalo
We do the deal without an extension agreement from Melo.
