The season is upon us. Only, today, instead of the usual Tinkertoys and Confederate memorabilia, we're opening a brand new season with the Knicks and Celtics.

Carmelo Anthony is out-rebounding Tyson Chandler 5-0. I do not understand the principle of small sample size, so I will simply assume 'Melo will win DPOY. That said, the Chandler-Fields-Douglas core looks really good, and they haven't even brought in Novak. This team could be for real.

The Celtics, on the other hand, oof. We're seeing now what happens when one of the big four is out, and it isn't pretty.

Anyone catch Rivers' comment on Wilcox? Seems he's exhausted by all the hard practicing the Celtics do. I don't know about you, but that makes me very happy Joe D. re-upped everybody.

Charles Barkley is shilling Weight Watchers. So much for the "asking team x to play defense is like asking Charles Barkley to join Weight Watchers" analogy. Expect shorter articles from sportswriters next year.
