Detroit Pistons sign Jake Voskuhl, Kareem Rush, Walker Russell Jr., and Brian Hamilton to training camp roster

From the team's press release:

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons announced today the signings of Jake Voskuhl, Kareem Rush, Walker Russell Jr. and Brian Hamilton to the 2011-12 training camp roster.

Voskuhl was drafted 33rd by the Chicago Bulls in the 2000 NBA Draft. He's played in 450 career NBA games with the Bulls, Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. Voskuhl has averaged 4.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 14.3 minutes in his NBA career. The 6-foot-11 center was a member of the University of Connecticut's Men's Basketball team that won the 1999 NCAA Championship.

Rush has played in 346 NBA games after being selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors and having his draft rights traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He's spent time with the Lakers, Bobcats, Pacers, and Clippers during his seven-year NBA career. His younger brother, Brandon, has spent the last three seasons with the Indiana Pacers.

Russell Jr., a local product from Rochester, MI, is the son of former Piston Walker D. Russell. Russell Jr. averaged 17.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 7.9 assists in 37 games last season with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League. Russell Jr. was a member of the Pistons' team at the 2007 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and was invited to the New York Knicks' 2007-08 training camp.

Hamilton is currently a member of the L.A. D-Fenders of the NBA Development League. Coming into this season, he averaged 9.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 135 D-League games for the Utah Flash. The Louisiana-Lafayette product made the Flash at an open tryout and was invited to the New Jersey Nets' 2008-09 training camp after playing for the Nets' summer league team at the 2008 Rocky Mountain Revue.

The Pistons had the 23rd pick in the 2002 draft.

I really wanted them to pick either Tayshaun Prince or Kareem Rush. I can’t remember why I liked Rush so much, but I was all about the Pistons drafting him if they got the chance.

Detroit probably went with the right guy.

I remember in his second or third year, people were claiming the kid was the next Kobe. That, obviously, did not quite pan out

I'm kinda intrigued by Walter Russel

He’s no Terrico White, but naturally we can’t all be the next Isiah Thomas in John Wall’s body

Without a doubt, squats are a cure for everything.
