Holy Jerebko!
"As for Jerebko, I had a long talk with his father, Chris Jerebko, just the other day – we’ll have a story up this week on Pistons.com – and he said that Jonas has added about 15 pounds of muscle over the course of his rehab and is now up to 240 pounds. Jonas was about 220 when the Pistons drafted him and he said at the end of last season that he had played at about 227 or 228 by the time the season ended. At a shade over 6-foot-10 and a solid 240, Jerebko is now comfortably big enough to shoulder the load at power forward, should that be where the Pistons wind up playing him next season."
I know most of us probably read the mailbag, but that stuck out to me. A 240lb Jerebko? What does that even mean...

Jerebko is 6’10? FUCK, SON.
I still say we draft Biyombo though.

Install Guile hair, start killing off weak teammates
All this snuggling and laughing must have gotten to the boy, he is clearly focused, mang
That goddamn Okra and beans got you Oprah in jeans. Seems to me a little lean cuisine, wouldn't hurt much- Agh don't touch! -Obie Trice
I hope Jerebko doesn’t lose any quickness with the extra muscle. Also, I’ll believe it when I see it. As Bearded Thundar will attest, packing on 15 pounds of muscle is very difficult.
I'm sure he lost quickness
But he should be big enough now to properly play power foward. So a Daye, Jerebko, Monroe line-up makes more since.

I still like Monroe better at PF
But that would require a more pure center.
Am I the only one buying into Chris Wilcox’s play of late?
Yeah, pretty much

My guess is the majority (like 90%+) of the muscle added was to the upper half of his frame.
I bet his chest is thicker, his arms bulkier, and his abs even more wash-boardier.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.

the biggest problem with Jerebko playing at PF
was that he was very poor when defending other PFs. He was solid against threes, but had problems being out-muscled by his competition. If this makes Jerebko a better defender at the 4, I’d be fucking ecstatic.
Jai Alai's got the bomb hops, drinkin Belgian styles from Cooperstown to Comstock.
Indeed. If Jerebko can guard PFs and play inside/outside on offense (shooting threes, driving the lane, scoring in the post), he’d be exactly the kind of versatile forward that every NBA team needs. Say goodbye, Chunky Charlie.

and there’s no chance Jonas would ever prefer a three ball to getting nasty in the post.

No I’m agreeing with you completely. What I’m saying is that unlike Charlie and Rasheed before him, Jonas could knock down a three or two, but he’d always prefer getting shit done in the paint.

I read that as:
As for Jerebko, I had a long talk with his father, Chris Jericho, just the other day
And was “Oh, so that’s where the awesome comes from.”
Terrence J. is feeling a bit fishy...

I don't know if I like this
Unless if he can squat 400 lbs now and has tank legs, all the extra muscle is going to slow him down without necessarily making him a better post player. I really liked having him as a wing defender and a spot up shooter. Even with the added size there’s no guarantee he can hold his own in the post, it really depends on where the added weight is coming from.
LeBron is a good example of adding too much muscle imo. He is a step slower and not nearly as explosive as he used to be (it’s visibly noticeable). I think that was a big reason why the Cavs weren’t as good last year compared to the year before. Bron just wasn’t as capable of taking over games in the playoffs. However his jumper has improved so much that the bulk hasn’t seemed to hurt his regular season performance much, if not at all. And I am only partially speaking in hyperbole about Jonas, when I was in shape my max squat was 345 lb and I only weighed 165 at the time.

I was eagerly anticipating your take on Jerebko's new muscle gains

I used to be able to squat around 350, and I was six feet, one inches tall and weighed no more than 185. I don’t think the squat is anything to be concerned about. The only thing I would worry about is making sure that his legs and core are strong enough to sustain any additional muscle growth up top, and in that regard, in Arnie I trust.
I think Arnie will keep him balanced
But that doesn’t mean he’ll be able to retain his flexibility and agility, which was a big part of what made him such a great wing defender

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else,
It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.
