PANDA Tournament ELITE EIGHT - Vote Now!!
Welcome to the Elite Eight of
The Piston Acquisition and New Development Awards Tournament
The tournament where users vote on future outcomes for the upcoming off-season. In the last round we had lots of surprising action
Second Round Highlights
- 'Draft Perry Jones' defeats 'Dumars being fired'?!?! Seriously??? I get that he does have a pretty good upside, but it's almost as if users here think he should be compaired with Rasheed Wallace. They are PF’s the same size, weight and wingspan (in college) both shoot 3s,both play on the wing on offense and in the low post on Defense, both have a great face-up game, have great foot work.will shoot a post-up fade away and are guys with a nasty side. This is without question. But is this addition more important than ousting Joe D? Maybe a lot of people have not yet decided to jump off the band wagon. Next Round: A rookie Perry Jones is a good matchup against an improved Austin daye, a skinny 6-11 forward who actually shot 3s in college.
- Jonas continues to roll, taking out Derrick "Don't call me a power forward" Williams. Next Round: He is going to face a similar energy power forward in Kenneth Faried. Faried just took out Kuester being fired by huge margin, which is probably voters not wasting their vote on the coaches inevitable ouster.
- The failed Cleveland trade meets the downtown stadium next round as last week's voting sets up a match up between Dumping Rip and a future first round pick and Mike Ilitch buying the team. This should make for an exciting match up, as should the rest for this week.

Side Bracket
Last week I made up a couple of match ups from what was going on around DBB that week just to keep things interesting. This week I am going to do the same, and they will be down below the rest, but I will clearly mark them as not part of the regular matchups.
- Retire Rasheed Wallace’s Jersey Or Retire Rip Hamilton’s Jersey
- Stuckey gets this contract Or Draft either Irving or Walker or Knight or Fredette and throw them into the fire
The Jersey Retirement was the biggest story of the week and it made you wonder who was next. The Bad Boys are pretty much out of potential retirees, and retiring anyone from the teal era will hurt our efforts to pretend like those years never happened. From the last Championship Ben Wallace is a lock, and given that they retired Rodman's Jersey despite only being here for seven years it sort of sets the precedent for Chauncey to get retired as well. So after that, who's next? I put it between Rip and Rasheed, you make the choice, or don't and just say neither.
In three months the Pistons will seek to answer their question mark at Point Guard, and they will probably look to one of three options, resigning stuckey to a reasonable contract, developing a young point guard from the draft, or doing something stupid (perhaps prompting Pistons fans to set themselves on fire in protest). While some combination of the three is possible, which of the first two options would you prefer?
The Elite Eight: Voting Procedures
I looked online for a way to do a proper vote, but I think the best way to do it is right here in the comments. Copy and Paste the table below into your comment and go through each of this weeks match ups and select which of the two options you would rather have the Pistons do this off-season and delete the other one.
Voting will remain open until April 10th

a. Mike Illitch buys the team. with how rip is playing, I’m beginning to think that we might be able to get something out of him, or at least save the pick.
b. draft jonas
c. draft perry jones
d. Jonas develops a deadly three. (btw, what is deadly exactly? Matt Bonner is shooting 46% from three, so that would be so great. but what would be even better would be if jonas had hair like kenneth faried…..)
s1. retire sheed’s jersey. I kinda doubt that would happen cause if you retire sheed’s, you have to retire chauncey and rip and tay and ben. and we do need at least 12 numbers not retired.
s2. draft kyrie irving and play him 48 minutes per game
c. draftperry jonesrasheed wallace
…

A Mike Ilitch buys the team
B Laimbeer hired as coach
C Austin Daye plays lockdown defense
D JJ regains full health + deadly 3
S1 Retire Rasheed Wallace’s Jersey
S2 Stuckey gets this contract
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
A Mike Ilitch buys the team – Yeah I’ll say it. Kuester benching Hamilton worked. I’m taking the people mover to see his last game as a Piston
B Draft Jonas Valanciunas – Bill is a little wet behind the ears to be coaching, we’d be setting him up for failure. Jonas is a for real center, not another light weight. You decide, here he is last month.
C Austin Daye plays lock down defense – Given how poorly for Boston in the playoffs last year, I don’t understand why we’d sign him let alone waste a draft pick on him.
D Jonas Jerebko regains full health and a deadly 3
S1 Retire Rip Hamilton’s Jersey – Rip was good when it counted. At the same time, I don’t follow Baylor, and it doesn’t make sense why a freshman should get his Jersey retired.
S2 Stuckey gets this contract – Let’s use this pick for the front court
After hearing aobut the Chicago game, Stuckey needs to go
Fuck That! Stuckey needs to go. Why do you not go in at the end of the Chicago game? Especially on the night when all these people are here to honor Dennis Rodman! Rodman loved to play the game more than anything, he always wanted to play and he always played hard, and you decided to honor him by not wanting to get back on the court? You don’t deserve your Jersey.
To keep it really real, this off season needs to see a full on purge of Pistons: Tay, Stuckey, T-Mac, Wilcox, and Summers obviously have to go. Hopefully one or two of Rip, Charlie, and Ben need to go and it may require losing someone else in the process and that is fine as long as it isn’t Jerebko or Monroe. That’s 7 Pistons at least. More than half the people who played last night. It’s a ridiculous turnover, but at the same time, I have no idea how else next season will be anything but an out-and-out failure.
I’m changing S2 to ‘Draft Kemba Walker’. Use the example of Ben Gordon and Will Bynum to implore him scared-straight style into becoming a pass-first point guard.

Given the way this season has gone, I'm not holding anything against Stuckey until it is clear what actually happened.
If I’m going to give someone the benefit of the doubt, its the combo-guard who for the most part has dealt with the past 3 season quite admirably all things considered. So until its clear exactly what the circumstances are, I’m not going to pass judgment on Stuckey.
And the fact that an unnamed, anonymous source claimed that Stuckey refused to go back in when there was absolutely no indication or mention of an altercation or stand off between Stuckey and Kuester during the game doesn’t make me feel any more confident in the truthfulness of the story. For all we know, JoD or Kuester made the call themselves. Shit, I bet it was Karen Davidson.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
I’m not going to pass judgment on Stuckey

I was never good at these on the SATs...are you saying I'm like Ramon Sessions?
Cuz if you are MP, your creepy gaze is making me nervous.

I was going to add at the end after:

Well...
In three of the cases, you’re debating someone who never were as good as you thought they might be; in the fourth, we’re debating whether someone lost their touch/mind overnight.

Were you more pissed over my assessment of Dumars, or my assessment of Sessions?

Oh and as far as Kemba Walker is concerned
Ever since ESPN asked Ben Gordon about Kemba and how his game resembles BG’s, I’ve been off on him. I absolutely do not like Ben Gordon’s style of play and the idea of having two of him on our team plus rip plus stuckey just makes me want to vomit.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
I guess I'm a sucker for all of those promo pieces.
I think if you try hard enough you can figure out how to be a point guard in the NBA. Kemba seems like a kid who is going to know how to work hard. I also don’t know if I believe the argument that some people are “born” with innate point guard skills. I think if you are willing to sacrifice your offense for your team’s and you have a great feel for the game, you can play point guard in the NBA.
I enjoyed the piece, but it scares the crap out of me.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
A. Dump Rip and a Future 1st
B.Draft Jonas Valanciunas
C.Austin Daye plays lock down defense
D.Jonas Jerebko regains full health and a deadly 3
S1 Retire Rasheed Wallace’s jersey
S2 Draft either Irving or Knight – Stuckey will surely get his contract extended by Dumars but still like Irving to play pg than Stuckey.
I understand the meaning of the side bracket at last.
So I can hold the vote finally.
A. Dump Rip and a Future 1st
B. Draft Jonas Valanciunas
C. Austin Daye plays lock down defense
D. Jonas Jerebko regains full health and a deadly 3
S1. Retire Rasheed Wallace’s Jersey. However which number should be?
S2. Stuckey gets this contract
Where broken English happens
A Mike Ilitch buys the team (I agree that Rip is boosting his trade value right now, the first might not be necessary to move him)
B Bill Laimbeer hired as Coach
C Draft Perry Jones
D I’m torn. I would love Faried in the late 1st, but that’s not happening. I’ll go with Jonas getting healthy.
S1 Neither, IMHO. Though I’m sure Rip’s will be given his point totals.
S2 Draft either Irving or Walker or Knight or Fredette and throw them into the fire. Screw Stuckey and his bitch ass.
A Dump Rip and a Future 1st
B Bill Laimbeer hired as Coach
C Austin Daye plays lock down defense
D Jonas Jerebko regains full health and a deadly 3 (although I have a man crush on Faried, my Jonas love is too potent to be ignored)
S1 Retire Rip Hamilton’s Jersey
S2 Draft either Irving or Walker or Knight or Fredette and throw them into the fire
Retire Rip Hamilton’s Jersey
My vote: Rip Hamilton retires.

Again, Clear Cut.
Mr. I
Coach Lam
Daye learns D (adding another 10-15 pounds would help here)
JJ healthy
Actually, all of these are crucial. If Gores ends up with the team, are you going to get the Jerry Buss wannabe, or are you going to get the Platinum Equity guy who is going to figure out how to maximize profits on the cheap, ala Donald Sterling? You know what you have with Mr. I., and it’s generally positive.
As for Lam…somehow I see him getting a lot more respect than Kuester.
