i hope JoeD and everybody that wants to draft a PG or wing
is watching the playoffs...
And observing how the team with the biggest paint-scoring advantage just beat the league leading Spurs and the darling Thunder, even while their wings and combos were super hot & spicy. KD & westbrook both scoring 33 & 29)
And how Tyson Chandler woke up and won the series for Dallas...
And how LA woke up their bigs and took the shine from CP3
And how Boston traded away their best big and their championship and the Heat just took their momentum
Draft ENES or Biyombo (ONLY if he's under 30, which I highly doubt because I've seen his birth certificate) or JONAS at the least.
my humble opinion...
your thoughts?

and Enes reminds me of Randolph
big, but not athletic, scorer and rebounder, nice outside shot
more in a second.
Jai Alai's got the bomb hops, drinkin Belgian styles from Cooperstown to Comstock.

counterpoint on the heat/celtics
the heat’s big men don’t exist. so, while you can say they could have won with perk, there’s not really substance to that line of the argument.
But i agree, Big.
not to mention
They traded away their big for a big. They got Nenad Kristic (sp?) out of the deal. The moral of the playoffs right now is “don’t be old” not “dominant bigs automatically win”
Nenad doesn’t count as a big- at least not in comparison to anyone else still in the playoffs.

Nenad Kristic = Rasheed : they are PF’s the same size, weight and wingspan (in college) both shoot 3s,both play on the wing on offense and in the low post on Defense, both have a great face-up game, have great foot work.will shoot a post-up fade away and are guys with a nasty side.
But in some peoples minds…with all those things in common ,you shouldn’t compare the two.
I would rather have Nenad than any player in the past 4-5 drafts, besides D.Rose or Blake Griffin

I don’t think he’s anywhere close to as good as Rasheed was, though. I’ve never seen Nenad shoot a 3 (does shoot long jumpers) and he’s not near as good on defense as Rasheed or say, Kurt Thomas (who I think he resembles more as a player)

At least these playoffs confirms that we were right to covet both Randolph and Gasol. There’s no way Memphis won’t resign Gasol after this though.
yeah that would have been a really good move
I remember earlier in the season there was talk Randolph wanted to come here. Perhaps if the owner situation was taken care of Joe would have been able to make it happen.
too late now though
I don't care if Randolph puts up 50-20 for the rest of the playoffs
I still don’t want him anywhere near a Pistons uniform.
why?
The guy is playing hard on both ends of the floor right now, that’s a lot more than what most of our players can say

I don't think there's a player in the league I trust less than Randolph
I think he’s Fool’s Gold. He spends his whole career playing one way, then gets to Memphis and is suddenly valuable – and it just happens to coincide with contract time. He was leveraging for an extension last year (which was undermined by this, so yeah, hopefully whoever signs him has an out clause for doing time in federal prison) and is a UFA this year. Maybe he’s turned his act around, but I don’t want the Pistons to be the one to try to find out.
I don’t want him because of his character issues. I only want hard-working professionals, not knuckle heads.

+1 to Shinons* and MFGE
He’s had one year of being very, very good, and several seasons of being a whiny, mediocre biatch.
Well, let's be fair to Randolph and look at the improvements he's made.
The big thing about Randolph is that he improved his TS%, his offensive rating, and doing a much better job on the offensive glass (which is a huge effort thing).
Before, Randolph’s 20-10 was pretty hollow. Now, he had the best offensive rebounding percentage in the league this year (14.2%), was 4th in overall rebounding percentage (20.1%), his TS% was .552 (second best of his career), best offensive rating of his career (115), he was in the top 15 in offensive win shares (6.8).
Another example of where Zach Randolph has improved: shot selection. In his two seasons with New York, he averaged 5.7 and 6.7 shots from beyond 16 feet (including 1.2 and 2.2 attempts per game from three). That’s roughly 37% and 39% of his shots taken. By comparison, this year he only attempted 3.3 shots from beyond 16 feet (0.6 from three point range). That’s less than 21% of his shots. And that’s huge for a guy like Randolph because he was an absolute monster around the rim (shot 64%) and the less jumpers he takes, the better. It’s like he’s the anti-Rasheed Wallace. The older he gets, the less he floats out for jumpers.
Randolph now is better than Randolph 4-5 years ago. And this is coming from a guy who was incredibly harsh on him the past few discussions on him.
Terrence J. is feeling a bit fishy...

I agree that Randolph has been a beast, superstar kind of performer this year, 100%. He’s been awesome. But it’s impossible to ignore his rocky past on and off the court, and it’s impossible to ignore that he’s playing this way in a contract year. For those reasons, I wouldn’t want him in spite of this season.
But I agree man, he’s been awesome this year.
You can avoid the contract year thing
By just giving him massive 2 year deals with the second year being a team option. You would certainly have to overpay, but his play this year warrants giving him a max deal

Kendrick Perkins was not Boston's best big man
Garnett was, and still is. He’s a better defender and actually has an offensive game. He’s also a huge asshole, but undoubtedly better than Perkins.
How's that for a slice of fried gold?
by Thom not Tom Gores on May 2, 2011 9:47 AM EDT reply actions
Perkins made Garnett’s life easier by being the real tough guy while KG just pretends.
by garrettelliott on May 2, 2011 10:23 AM EDT up reply actions 7 recs
exactly. KG is overrated. He does still have an efficient offensive game, but defensively his #‘s are worse than Duncan’s AND he’s got better defenders around him than Duncan has. Makes me sick all that yelling and screaming gets him DPOY/All defensive team talk, while there is little substance behind it.

The best Big in Basketball is playing golf in his adidas cleats.
Did you Guys see where he ended an interview early when asked about his future in Orlando?
