Around SBN: Lakers Should Trade Andrew Bynum So He Doesn't Go To Waste

Many swings and many misses. Much shooting and a proportionate amount of clanking.

It wasn't pretty for Bismack Biyombo, who puzzlingly did little more than confirm his clear-cut offensive weaknesses in his workout for talent evaluators. Turnaround jumpers in the key (0/5), elbow jumpers alternating sides (2/10), free throws (23/41) – you name it, he missed it. When he switched to uncontested turnaround hook shots in the paint a few more fell, but he mixed in some air balls for good measure.

On the plus side, Biyombo's body looked great and he's still an athletic freak. His combination of length, strength agility and explosiveness is almost unheard of, causing many to marvel at his physical gifts despite the low-skill level he displayed.

Overall? Nothing new outside of a vividly clear illustration of just how raw his offense is at this point.

One NBA exec put it best: "If you liked Biyombo going into today you are going to be set aside the weaknesses he showed and realize that setting couldn't have been any worse for him. The guy is not a jump-shooter, and no one is going to draft him to be one. You need to see through that. But if you came in here with question marks about him you surely came away with plenty more things to worry about. All in all, people who liked him will continue to, and those who don't will as well."

Bismack Biyombo workout. The entire NBA world is here. http://lockerz.com/s/109670892
Two minutes in and you can already tell that Bismack Biyombo is not a “workout guy”. Looks very nervous, airballing layups.Really struggling
Despite the bad hands, the lack of skills & general polish, you still can’t teach the agility & explosiveness Bismack Biyombo’s showing here
I think Bismack Biyombo would have been better off playing one game of 5 on 5 to truly show the impact he can make. He’s not a 1 on 0 type.
Measurements just handed out here at the EuroCamp. Bismack Biyombo 6-8 w/out shoes, 7-6 wingspan, 9-4 standing reach, 245 lbs, 4.2% body fat

I'd still hit it.

And by hit it I mean take a gamble on him with the 8th pick.

He is a question mark in a pile of meh.

WWGMD?

Here's the thing about Biyombo and that workout

Literally every shot he took he looked hesitant. Like he had no confidence in it. I firmly believe that you put him under the tutelage of Laimbeer and you’ll get enough offense out of him to make him well worth the pick.

Having Ben Wallace to guide him on defense and we’re loking at the second greatest defender of all time, guaransheed.

The good news is that we don’t need him to shoot the ball, like, EVER. We just need him to slam dunk shot it and do block shotting.

Well he's definitely going to be available at 8

I wonder if he won’t be available in the second round. An athletic defensive freak from last year, Hassan Whiteside, was a middle first rounder and then dropped on draft day. Maybe we can trade down and get him, and lose Rip in the process.

Welcome... to the Wallace-hood

Yeah I don't think he drops further than 20 where Minnesota is.

If Minnesota could get Biyombo and Williams they’d be in heaven. That said, if he does drop that far then why don’t we try and swing a 7 for a 15-19 pick to one of those teams itching for Jimmer or Leonard? I doubt we could swap picks, pick up Biyombo, and get rid of Rip or BG, but we might be able to swing a swap and move CV which would be a pretty solid consolation prize.

NBA… ready… body.

Trade down for Faried.

And because Darko sucked all European big men suck

No, of course not. I was just having a little fun.

The NBA ready comment has nothing to do with my desire to trade down for Faried. I just think doing so minimizes risk and maximizes value, depending on what Joe can get rid of and/or get back in return by trading down.

At best Faried is a poor man's Art Parakhouski.
