Mock Draft: #8 | Detroit Pistons | Bismack Biyombo | PF | Congo
Scott Howard-Cooper, NBA.com:
The closer the draft gets, the more some teams believe Joe Dumars needs the safe pick with better odds on a nice return with a new owner and a new coach. Biyombo is definitely not a safe-pick guy,but he projects as a game changer more than anyone still on the board.

Safe pick means Kemba Walker or something along those lines
There ARE no safe picks in this draft. Anybody could be a bust. But there’s smart safe and dumb safe. If “safe pick” means draft Brandon Knight because he was good in the NCAA tournament, well, then forget safe.

Kemba Walker = Ben Gordon
Biyombo completely encompasses Tom Gores vision of what a player should be off-the-court and mentally. And he would reinforce the commitment that defense comes first.
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.
Kemba Walker < Ben Gordon
Gordon shot 43 from both the field and 3 point range and shot 80% from the line, giving him a considerably higher TS% and eFG%. Kemba doesn’t score as well as Gordon, barely has better point numbers, and is smaller with an even (somehow) lower defensive upside. There is mind-bogglingly nothing that this 5’11 prospect does even averagely. In conclusion, I say even more enthusiastically “UGH!”
my point exactly Shiny.
