Will Bynum
I am new here as a poster, but after reading the boards for a long time I am curious of what people's opinions of Bynum are. On other boards when discussing trades I notice people often throw his name in as filler for trades, and I am curious as to why that is. I do recognize our overstock in guards, but in my opinion I think Will Bynum has proven to be a beast off the bench, and always seems to play full speed with a lot of heart and talent, and with a good attitude to boot. He could be a decent starter on some teams, and I think we are lucky to have him as a back up. If he played well under Kuester, I'm hoping his talent can be even better utilized under a new coach who understands the game a little better. I am not one to consider myself a fan of Stuckey, and I feel Bynum would be a better asset for mentoring Knight as well. I think our only focus should be on trading Rip and BG, then worry about offloading CV, Prince, and Maxiell. But maybe I'm way off, who knows, I am unable to catch all the games out here haha. Opinions?

I really like Bynum as well
But I just can’t see a realistic scenario in which it makes since to keep him. Our only hope would be to trade Rip or Gordon AND not resign Stuckey. If either one of them happened, I’d be surprised/ecstatic. But I just can’t see both happening.
My federal building is way cooler than your federal building.
From a variety of perspectives...
Stuckey vs. Bynum:
Although the two are different players, their play styles are actually pretty similar. Both are shoot-first PGs. Both have limited range on their jumpshots. Both have issues finishing around the rim. Neither are outstanding distributors. Both can be match up problems for other defense, but both can be exploited on defense depending on how they’re used.
Trade Value:
Bynum’s contract is very, very reasonable. For his age and production, he’s the most move-able of the guards on the roster by himself or as a sweetener. And let’s face it, if we’re going to make any trades, we’ve gotta sweeten things a bit.
Ideal Role:
IMO, Bynum’s ideal role would be as a change-of-pace PG off the bench. What I mean by change-of-pace is that he would give you something different from your starting PG. As it currently stands, defenses can basically scheme the way they cover our PG in the same way. E.g., if you put either Stuck or MFWB in a pick and roll, the D can always go under the screen because neither can shoot from outside 18 feet.
That’s not good from a team offense perspective. However, a team with a more traditional PG who plays primarily on the perimeter and as a distributor could bring a guy like MFWB off the bench for 20-25mpg and give the defense and entirely different look to defend.
Bynum’s not that great of a player. He has moments where he can be very exciting, of course, but those are infrequent. Like Gulks said, he’d be a useful backup PG to someone like Chauncey or Andre Miller. Stuckey is also better on defense, at least against point guards. Bynum is abysmal at fighting through screens.
I love Bynum
Hell, i said he should be starting at the end of the season last year. but as Gurks pointed out, his trade value could be his ticket out. I could see him in Dallas if they cant resign Barea.
