The Pistons have hired the Orlando Magic's Charles Klask, whom Magic GM Otis Smith described as the team's "Stats Guru". It would be encouraging to hear that Detroit might be finally emphasizing analytics, but the Magic's transaction record provides little to nothing to get excited about... Was Klask an ignored voice in Orlando, or were his analyses bunk (moreland)? Time will tell. But any news that Detroit is dipping into statistical analysis should make fans cautiously optimistic.
