Daye is going to play in Russia.
Austin Daye just "tweeted" that he is going to play in Russia, and has an out clause. Yes, I have twitter, and yes, I follow what all the Pistons talk about day to day. But yeah, I don't know if this has hit the news yet. I just noticed it. Anyone know any more information about this? And for someone to sign with a foreign team this late in the summer, is that the players saying they have little faith of a season starting? I just got to Baghdad and I've been out of the loop for a while since my last camp didn't have decent internet, so ya, if this is old news my bad.

Good for him. The more NBA players who go overseas, the better. They can practice/play while collecting another salary, thus gaining valuable leverage against Stern and the NBA owners (who must be counting on “their” players going broke during the layoff).
I concur.
Anyone know if the rookies, like our boy The Freaks Come Out At (BTFCOAK), got their first checks before the lockout happened? I know their credit limits and ratings probably went up considerably, but it would kind of suck if they had to live on amateur basketball player wages.
Side note: I’m pretty sure that college athletes don’t get paid. Not even when the school makes millions per year in ticket, concessions and jersey sales, hires a coach for millions, and cuts funding from my friend’s music department position. Just sayin’, I hope Talladega (BTK) got a nice lump sum before they banned him from taking advantage of our fine training staff.

I’m thinking no, but I’m not certain. I don’t think contracts start getting paid until they start working, i.e., training camp?

I thought a real player got his money up front.
