I have to say
as bad as the team is, and as heralded as Bill Davidson’s creation of the Palace has been over the past 20 years, I think Tom Gores may take Basketball to the next step in entertainment. Its too bad he inherited a team that is so bad and that these short sets are more of a ploy to add value to the experience than truly be a sold out show, but just think how much they could start garnering in talent if this team was actually good. They could get legitimate acts in for the weekends, the band would be treated to either a private box or courtside seats, and they’d do a halftime show and then a postgame show
Jonas Jerebko once killed a charging female rhinoceros in heat protecting its young with nothing more than a hook shot.

I’m thinking about this from another perspective.
Thinking back to the lockout rationale as conveyed by Stern, the owners were complaining about losing money. Why? Because costs were soaring. The answer to this dilemma? Cut the pay of the players.
Post lockout, what do we get from the Pistons? Really stupid spending on irrelevant half-time shows that are failing to draw in any new fans.
To me, the current spending on entertainment (and its failure to provide any significant ROI) simply serves to confirm that NBA teams are not really concerned about what they said they were concerned about. It was simply a power play and money grab.
The “secret” to filling up an arena is to field a winning basketball team. That’s what fans will pay to see. As this season is already demonstrating, anything above and beyond that is either icing on the cake or frivolous spending (depending on how good the team actually is).

What does this mean?
a) The Pistons are so irrelevant that they have to get T-Pain to make money?
or
b) T-Pain is so irrelevant that he has to go to Pistons games to make money?
