this never made sense to me
the pistons routinely rank as the 4th-6th most profitable team year in and year out (although this year isn’t looking too good) and one would think profitability would play a major role in value. only so many teams can routinely count on making a profit year in and year out. golden state, houston, ny, lal, chicago, detroit, and toronto. that’s the list. even in a bad year those teams will turn a profit.
I don’t have the time to read this, but doesn’t this have to do with the fact that whoever owns the team also owns the Palace and thus gets the revenue for all of the non-sports events that occur there?
