The title suggests are few of my reactions to the most recent Piston defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers. I read with disbelief the box score and then the subsequent game summaries. It sounds like Stuckey is being stinkey because he has migraine headaches, I'm not sure what the excuse is for Monroe and Knight though. I read a lot about Prince being lackadaisical and not sure what the messages about Kyle Singler mean. Jonas Jerebko seems to be working hard, and Andre Drummond apparently is making plenty of rookie mistakes. So where do we turn from here?
Quite simply I wouldn't put Stuckey out on the floor if he's ill. Migraines might not seem like a physical disability, but obviously they are. I'm disappointed that this wasn't discussed and diagnosed prior to game time.
Bynum seems to be playing well and although Knight's not shooting that well, it seems he's contributing in other ways. It might simply be best to let Bynum start until Knight has his normal running mate hitting on all cylinders, and allow either English or perhaps Singler serve as the the #2 guard.
Statistically I can't complain much about what Jason Maxiell is doing. It seems like he is playing well, although he'll never be the most newsworthy player. Jonas Jerebko seems like he deserves to start and play alongside Max if he is providing a solid and consistent stream of energy.
The issue with Monroe is more disconcerting. Is the addition of Drummond somehow changing his game? Is he trying to do too much? Is he distracted by the terrible play of Stuckey? I have to believe that the focus of the offense probably causing some issue as well, but perhaps with Singler and Jerebko hitting shots more consistently than Knight and Stuckey, things might settle back into place.
English might be another good addition to the rotation too. He should push Knight to get back into rhythm.
What do others think?
