The Draft Dream of Anthony Davis fades
With every win the dream of the number one pick, Anthony Davis fades for Detroit nation. But as it fades I have had a vision of a new draft dream non other than Cody Zeller. He could be a very solid NBA center next to the Moose. I know he is not the athlete or the defensive freak that Davis is but he seems to have a little Laimbeer quality about him. He runs the floor well and plays very hard. He is willing to bang down low using a developed post game. Although he is not the ideal player for Detroit to draft he may be much better than some may think.

He doesn’t rebound, fouls twice as much as he blocks shots and he weighs 215 lbs. I certainly wouldn’t spend a lottery pick on a guy like that in this draft.
I’m just hoping Thomas Robinson is on the board when we draft at this point…

John Henson is my number 2
But I wouldn’t be disappointed with Cody Zeller. I’ve watched quite a bit of IU basketball this year and have just been amazed by him. Everything you said about him’s true, but he has been incredibly productive from day 1 against elite competition, is a better defender and rebounder than his numbers indicate, and very savvy.
Yes!
Robinson might even be the better pick for all we know. Davis is impressive, but Robinson consistently produces points and boards. I think he’d pair up great next to Monroe. I think we also have to remember that the worst team seldom wins the first pick. Washington wasn’t the worst team when they picked Wall number one. And I sure am glad now that we picked 7th and had to “settle” for Monroe.
Can one of you guys explain to me
How Anthony Davis fits well on the Bobcats and drastically improves them? Don’t get me wrong, I know he is the best talent, but his skillset is extremely similar, albeit better, than Bitchsmack: the guy they traded up last lottery to claim. A front court based on those two, tyrus Thomas and Mullens is incredibly devoid of points. Surely someone like Barnes, with star power offensively, is a better fit next to Henderson on the wing?
The Bobcats are so royally butt-fucked even compared to the pistons that the way I see it, their best option is to trade back a few spots and upgrade another position as well in the process?

biyombo/unibrow
blocks and dunks galore
but neither has any offensive game. efficiency yeah, but post up creating shots no.
I'm totally fine with that
biyombo/unibrow could be substituted with wallace/worm

yeah...I could see them going with Gilchrist or Drummond before Davis.
Depending on where they pick though. If they’re first overall, I could see them trading back a few picks to get Sullinger in addition to future building blocks. If I’m the Pistons, I’d consider offering say a 6th overall pick (assuming we ended up with the 6th) + our 2013 1st rounder to get the first overall from Charlotte. In my eyes, Davis would be worth 2 6-10th overall picks easily.

Maybe if they do get the 1st pick we could convince them to trade Biyombo then
Of course there’s only a 25% chance of them having the 1st pick even if they keep their current ranking.
Anybody can happen!

never been so sad
to see wins.
But at least Lawrence Frank is learning how to use his players.
I say if we can’t get a top 2 pick, go with
Sullinger/Robinson from pick 4-6
or at worst 6-8 Perry Jones/ Meyers Leonard.
There are other shot blockers that may be available round 2 such as Fab Melo or Festus Ezeli.
Robinson in round 1
and Fab Melo in Round 2
would improve this team a whole lot, if we can’t get AD1 or AD2
we have 2 picks in the 2nd round this year
assuming Houston stays in their current position in the league that is. If Scott Machado is available after Melo, then a draft of Robinson, Melo, and Machado in my mind would be orgasmic.

that is to say we have Houston's 2nd round draft pick so long as their 2nd rounder isn't in the top 40.

We have already AD0
AD0 = Austin Daye 0 points…

indeed
Totallly agree with Robinson, Melo, and Machado!
Consolation prize by committee
no consolation!
I’d take Robinson even if Drummond were still on board.

Me too!
My hope is someone ahead of us takes Drummond because of his “potential.” Davis is the only guy I’d take ahead of Robinson, and even then I’m not sure he’s a better pick.
Davis could probably drop
Defense going number 1? Maybe if we get the pick. If Drummond or Barnes, or even Perry Jones has a dominant scoring show in the tournament at the end of the year they might leap frog him.

i really hope those three go in the top three… and Detroit has the 4th pick ;)
counter intuition
i hope they don’t, because i really don’t want to end up with one of them if we do have a top 3 pick. we’re probably guaranteed a top 5 pick, and we can mostly agree that there are 4 real quality players projected to go at the top of this draft. so we really only need one of these guys to get taken ahead of us, and then pray we actually take the right player after that.
if that was the order, and we had a top 3 pick
but wanted Davis/Robinson/Sullinger, we could trade down for one of those three players plus added value.
Davis will go #1, not because of his defense, but because of his potential on offense
People are making such a big deal out of his rebounding and shot-blocking, but the dude played PG through much of his formative years. He has incredibly soft hands, and finishes at a ridiculously high rate. Once he puts some work in on the offensive end, Davis will be an unstoppable force at both ends of the floor.

well if Detroit winds up with the number 1 pick
we won’t draft him.

We only draft combo guards.
and combo forwards!
I think the two somehow meet in the middle!

If we had to decide between Jim Henson and John Henson in the draft, we’d be stuck between a fraggle rock and a hard place.

Fortunately or Detroit
pretty much every team below us in the rankings has been winning while we lose two in a row. Right now, we’re a half-a-game out of the top 3 in lottery balls.
plus Brook Lopez is practicing
is coming back to New Jersey, which will make them a lot better
