Pistons look for approval for alternate uniforms for 2013-14

Drew (Detroit): I noticed on Friday a number of teams wore retro uniforms. I was wondering how teams get permission to wear the throwbacks and when was the last time the Pistons wore a uniform besides the traditional home and away?
Langlois: Teams must submit uniform designs to NBA headquarters for approval and the process requires the submissions be made well in advance of use. The Pistons are submitting an alternate uniform to the NBA for approval for use in the 2013-14 season, Drew. The Pistons haven’t worn anything beyond home whites and road blues for the past three seasons. The last alternate the Pistons wore was the red uniform.

History.
Part of the problem is that Detroit’s had a similar uniform for most of its history.
And then there’s a 1990s section of uniforms that I NEVER want to see on a retro night.

I can’t even bring myself to use the design in 2k12, not even for the lulz. And yes, it’s an alternate choice of uniform you can select for use in the game. I tried it once. First possession, I got sick of it. Never again. The teal gives me an ill feeling just cycling past it, in the options screen.

I Miss The Red Jersey
It kind of makes sense to bring it back.
Lakers started a tradition a few years ago where they wear white when playing on Sundays.

I remember hearing rumbling about this a while back
but I thought it was a bigger deal than just an alternate uniform approval.
I’d like to see the Pistons “revamp” not only their jerseys, but also their logo with something more similar to the classic logo associated with the 80s:
Simple and classic.
Additionally, I’d love to see them lose the current font they use in the logo, on-court and the jerseys. Something about the way the #1 looks has always bothered me specifically. Needs a serif, or something.

I don't think they should get reworked jerseys at all.
..the design is what, nine years old? This team hasn’t really earned a restyle, and certainly nothing that looks more like the two time NBA Champion Detroit Bad Boys.
You might tweak the current aesthetic I guess, but I don’t see why they should be wearing something that resembles the Bad Boys joints more than they already do
Personally I’d be more interested in a reskin of Detroitbadboys.com’s logo. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
