Ben Wallace: Pistons Don't Have & Must Get Elite Defender
Ben Wallace says that you are born as a great individual defender; it's not something that can be taught.
Terry Foster reports Wallace indicates that the Pistons don't have an elite defender now, and must get one via draft of free agency to become title contender again.

No, he's right. he has got to be the best 85 pound defender in the league.

As I Have Tweeted To CV31 Several Times
Defense wins rings.
Actually, you need several elite defenders to win a ring. If you want an Exhibit A for this proposition, consider Mike D’Antoni, who probably will be fired within a week or two. His teams play close to zero defense. Melo is a good defender, but I think that’s about it. I never thought D’Antoni was all that as a coach, but that team is just miserably constructed. Really tough to mesh Melo, Amare and Chandler.
In other news, I unfollowed CV31 yesterday. I’m kind of getting the hang of Twitter, I use it to chat with a couple of people, and keep up on blogs and commercial stuff. (I rec @TheEconomist and @KatrinaNation (I’ll forgive KvH for braying too much about the Knicks))
I could give a flying fuck whether you follow me or not on Twitter.

Yeah as far as D-Rating goes, he has the 4th worst on his team...
although as a team, New York isn’t nearly as bad as you’d think given their head coach. Their D ranks them right smack in the middle of the pack, while their D-Rating is good for 10th in the league.
Surprisingly, its their offense that is disgusting…their O-Rating is 24th in the league. Just goes to show that D’Antoni’s system won’t work without a prolific passer/floor general.

I Guess I Have To Explain This..
…all these SBN accounts that implore you to follow them on Twitter in their sig line…I mean, what’s so fucking compelling about your text messages that I need to have access to them 24/7?
That clear enough for you?

I don't think they're imploring
More so giving you another outlet to follow their potentially insightful commentary, if you liked their comment here or on another blog. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people letting others know where to find them, if they’re interested. It’s good personal marketing. If brgulker and others here didn’t have their Twitter linked in the signature, I may not have known they even had a Twitter, and I’m glad because I enjoy their tweets. Good tweets today, Ashton.
For me, it’s just a way to connect with people. I don’t like the word “follow,” and I wish it were something else. I like interacting with folks about religion, politics, sports, all kinds of stuff. Twitter’s an awesome way to do that.

i love twitter personally, i use it more and more as time goes by. as gulks said its great for exchanging ideas with people about tons of different topics. I find it a super valuable tool for keeping up on b-ball. Instead of going to a billion different sites i can just follow bloggers and beat writers from all the different teams and check it at my leisure. Its a nice time saver. Basically anytime im watching a game im also glancing at twitter to see other peoples observations as well.

It’s insane how effective twitter is as a promotional tool, as well. I really like MFBG’s idea of changing “follow” to something more friend oriented. What apps do you guys use?

I only need one post to prove how much I love beer.
I spend the rest of my time doing it, instead of talking about it.

Oddly enough,
I think V would by far have the most interesting twitter feed of anyone on here. I would definitely follow you, if I ever bother to follow anyone on twitter. Which I probably won’t.

Just one can make a huge difference, though
Just think how good the Knicks would be if Melo and Amar’e weren’t killing their offense. Tyson Chandler has turned them into a top 10 defensive team basically through sheer force of will.
How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Making this worse, our team is composed mostly of below-average defenders
But then again, they are mostly below-average on offense too.
One Brow to rule them all, One Brow to block them,
One Brow to bring them all and in the defense bind them
In the Land of Motown where the Pistons lie.

How is this not green?
Also, I’m going to go see the GR Symphony play the music of “Return of the King” while the movie is going on a giant projection screen. I’ve seen them do the first two in the LOTR trilogy and it was amazing. So pumped.
Admittedly I was confused myself.
