The Pistons' second round pick from the 2011 NBA draft Vernon Macklin will be rejoining the team in a couple weeks after a short stint with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League. Macklin has destroyed the glass in his five games with the D-team and the Pistons have been watching closely:
"We get an opportunity to watch his games online," Pistons coach Lawrence Frank said Monday. "He's playing with a lot of energy and effort. He's gotten better each and every game. It's great for him to get that experience.
"We see continued development. We see progress in Vernon."
Macklin is averaging 16.6 points on 53-percent shooting and 17.7 rebounds in roughly 36 minutes per game. The Mad Ants have five games remaining and the season ends on April 7, so Macklin will return to the Pistons on either April 8 in Miami or on April 9 in Orlando with Big Z in Orlando and co. watching.
