Feed the Moose: Greg Monroe says his number is not getting called

Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press has a story up that says to expect Greg Monroe to get more involved in the offense after the Pistons lost a couple games in Florida by a combined 53 points. Yes, with nine games left in the season and only after a couple blow outs, we can finally expect our team's best player to get more looks.

Monroe actually puts up the second most shots on the team per game (second only to -- sigh -- Tayshaun Prince), but how many of those are a result of him calling his own number or following one of his offensive rebounds? Moose claims that he's not being fed:

"My number is not getting called, and we run the offense through other players now, so I got to work to get shots other ways, but I don't think it's anything the defenses are doing."

"Not to disrespect anyone we've played, but it's not like they are trying to deny me or something like that. I think I'm still able to touch the ball. I just think we are focusing on other players more."

Ellis thinks defenders are doing a good job of forcing Monroe left when he puts the ball on the floor and that Monroe's stubborn once he does start to dribble, but that hasn't slowed Monroe down any. He's currently ranked No. 42 in the NBA on isolation plays, according to mySynergySports.com. He's No. 83 on post ups, where most of his shots come from, and Ellis says that his teammates may not be helping him there due to poor entry passes.

Monroe seems to be doing just fine despite not being the focus of the offense; imagine what's possible when the Pistons start to feed him on a regular basis.
