Salary cap flexibility seems like all the rage for NBA teams. I think the fans buy into the importance of this notion because it's hoped that a big acquisition could be lurking just around the corner. So, who are the possible big name targets that could be in the sights of our home team in 2013?
I've looked at the projected list of players, and am not really sure there really is a player that will be that likely to sign with Detroit. The list can be found at http://www.hoopsworld.com/2013-nba-free-agents. There are some super stars of course, and perhaps a few other key role players that I'd love to see on the Pistons, but are they really a great fit, and would even consider coming to Motown?
Here are the best of the best of the restricted and unrestricted free agents for 2013, by position:
SG Tyreke Evans and James Harden
SF Josh Smith is the only one that I would consider
I just don't see this list as having much potential reason for excitement. In my opinion the potential for the greatest gains has to be in the continued development of the team's young nucleus, and ideally the addition of a few other young developing players that will find a niche role with this squad.
I'd be harping if I mentioned my favorite potential addition once again, but it's that type of player that I'd look for to contribute to the team's future rise.
