You expect to see guys like Andre Drummond, Jason Maxiell and Greg Monroe abusing the rim. But alley-oops to Brandon Knight and Rodney Stuckey? C'mon, that's just rubbing it in.
Also good to see: they're taking care of business on misses, too. The Pistons won the rebounding battle 54-41 -- Dana Gauruder points out, that's the seventh time in the last 13 games the Pistons have topped the 50-rebound mark.
That caught my eye, so I dug a little deeper: it's the 11th time this year the Pistons have tallied as many as 50 rebounds in a game. You know how many times they did that all of last year? Twice. OK, that was a lockout-shortened season, how about in all of 2010-11? Try once. And in 2009-10? Six times. So yeah, the Pistons already have more 50-plus rebound games this year than the last three seasons combined.
Of course, raw rebounding totals are a counting stat dictated by pace as much as anything, so take this with a grain of salt. But if you watch a game and think, "damn, I can't remember the last time the Pistons grabbed this many rebounds," it's because they're putting up numbers unseen since Ben Wallace's prime years.
