Pistons vs. Nets final score: Detroit ends skid with win in Brooklyn, 109-97

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit locked down defensively in the third quarter and played even in the fourth to end a two-game losing streak.

What happened?

The Pistons won 109-97, ending a two-game losing streak. Hooray! It was just the second time in seven games the Pistons won the road, improving the team's record to 5-8 on the year.

What stood out?

It was awesome to see the Pistons buckle down defensively after halftime. The Nets scored 32 points on 76.5 (!!!) percent shooting in the second quarter but immediately followed that by scoring just 15 points on 26.3 percent shooting in the third. That was the difference in the game, considering the fourth quarter was literally a wash, 31-31.

Who stood out?

Rodney Stuckey continues to thrive in his sixth-man role, scoring 27 points (10-16 shooting) in 31 minutes to go with six assists and four boards.

Brandon Jennings also stood out, recording a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Unfortunately that included a 2-for-10 shooting performance from the field, which isn't what you want to see from a guy who's already admitted to losing all confidence in his shot. But he stayed aggressive and got to the line, where he was a perfect 10-for-10.

After going scoreless on Friday, Josh Smith scored 13 points in his return to the startling lineup. He added eight boards, three assists and three steals. The numbers aren't eye-popping, but it's worth pointing out he finished +14 in the plus/minus column; only Stuckey (+15) was higher for Detroit.

It was the Joe Johnson show for the Nets: he scored a game-high 34 points, with most of them coming from long distance: he finished 8-10 from 3-point line. Paul Piece added 19 and Andray Blatche 10; no other member of the Nets cracked double-digits.

Bullets:

• Andre Drummond's double-double streak ended at eight: he finished the game with nine points and 10 rebounds before leaving the game with five minutes and change when the Nets resorted to Hack-A-Dre. He shot just 1-for-4 from the free-throw line, matching his season mark of 24 percent. (Can he get better? Not yet.)

• The Nets (3-10) were booed off the court by the Brooklyn fans. Check out NetsDaily to see how much their readers are freaking out.
